A beautiful place to stay and get away from the hustle and bustle. It takes a while to get there and the last bit through the reserve has not got the best roads but once you get there you realise it was so worth it. Taking a awalk through the reserve and seeing the animals especially of course the spectacle... More

Nature at its best. Lots if animals around. Of course the Andean bear but also foxes, and lots of birds like hummingbirds every morning and some very rare species like guans. The lodge is by a little river. Very peaceful. Rooms are in adobe, basic but very well decorated. Bathrooms are open on the nature. I don't understand the few... More

The guides here are excellent, very knowledgeable about the birds and wildlife. We took our guide with us for our two night stay as the local guides understandably do not speak anything other than Spanish. It was very useful to have him translate for us. The surrounding dry forest is interesting, we saw a huge amount of birds very clearly.Plus... More

My husband, 11 year old son and I are recently back from a wonderful four night stay at Chaparri Ecolodge and Reserve. Having come to Chaparri mainly to see their rescued spectacled bears, we were thrilled with the abundance of other wildlife to be found. Numerous bird species, including many endemics... the reintroduced white-winged guans come into camp regularly each... More

Thank you Chaparri for 3 unforgettable nights. Our group enjoyed the most extraordinary experience. Our guide Tomas was attentive to our every need and request. He is also a fantastic storyteller. Found all the target birds we were looking for and more. BRAVO!!! The warmth, friendliness, the amazing food and special care provided by the staff was truly memorable. The... More

After a two hours drive from Chiclayo over a dirt road in not too great condition you arrive in the Chaparri Reserve and Ecolodge. The place is far away from any city, decent hotel or restaurant. We went there for the possibilities to see birds. Around 13.00 hrs. lunch was served in a buffet form. However since we seemed to... More

This place is primarily for birdwatching as it has prime location in an unusual habitat, a dry forest in the tropics. Due to the dryness, there is relatively little plant growth which makes the birds much easier to see than most habitats. Our guide Daniel was excellent, with great spotting ability and he clearly knew the birds well. One negative... More

We stayed here for two nights. The location is amazing. We visited a month after it had rained for the first time in three years so the dry forest was in bloom! This was fantastic, though greatly limited the number of birds we could see. The staff, particularly our guide, Daniel, and the cook, Elizabeth, could not have done more... More

Oh yeah, the birding was incredible as well! The winged residents were awesome and readily available at the feeders and in the surrounding habitat. The lodgings were very nicely done and the meals were just right- tasty and ample servings. This is a not to miss stop in N Peru for birders or just run of the mill nature loving... More

The Chaparri Lodge is the most unique lodge we've ever stayed at in South America - a place with natural springs located in the middle of a dry forest with no water at all. The result was an abundance of tame wildlife that begged to be photographed. We were fortunate to see the only wild spectacled bear we've ever seen... More
