The hotel itself is in a residential area and has the feeling of a nice old house inside, including a nice patio out the back. As I opted for the cheapest price I was in a room on the fourth floor, which turned out actually to be the top of the building, where my room was more of a hut...

I stayed a few nights at a hotel in the center and came to Clara's to save money. Clara speaks English and can help with suggestions for visiting the archeological sites as she is a certified guide. The breakfast is extra but she makes an awesome omelet. I am traveling by moto and was able to park inside. Very secure...

Lovely location by a peaceful park, which is a relief to the senses after the bustling city centre of Trujillo. The shower water was really hot, which was nice. However, the place would need modernisation, the rooms and bathrooms are quite basic and they did not give towel, soap, and provided only a bit of toilet paper. The service is...

We had a great time overall at Clsra's. She kindly took us round the major archaeological sites for much cheaper than the other guides, and she certainly knows her stuff. She made our stay very welcoming. However, guests don't get an outdoor key, so we were locked out for over half an hour at one point. This is a home...

We cannot comment on this guesthouse as unfortunately when we arrived there was no one there to let us in. We had called the day before just to hear Clara tell us, we should just come, there would be plenty of rooms available. She wouldn't even really listen when we tried to discuss time of arrival, just kept saying: No...

Trujillo was our last stop during our 17 day visit in Peru. We stayed at Clara's for 3 nights by recommendation of a friend of a friend within the Anthropology community who is studying in Trujillo. We were pleasantly surprised upon arriving to find out that she had studied Archaeology herself and offers guided tours to the sites in the...

Needed to stay 1 night in Trujillo due to mistaken bus schedule. Casa Clara was the cheapest option I could find online in limited time. Got the rooftop room for a cheaper price of 15S pp. The room is nice and with a view of the park + sunset. The house is beautiful with good internet, hot water. They also...

As I was embarking on a World Challenge expedition to Peru, it was a weight off of my shoulders to find a hostel so good as Casa de Clara. Clara was an amazing lady, and the housekeeper/host Luce was an absolute angel!! Clara's family were a privilege to meet and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Clara was more than...

We arrived at 11pm to find that the infamous Clara was not there, but had requested of another guest that they stay up and let people in the front door. As we entered we saw a rat run out of the kitchen. At this point we started to get the feeling that it was all a bit unprofessional, but as...

My wife and I came to Casa de Clara for a couple of days and decided to stay for one week. Comfortable room, delicious food, respectful attentive staff, and great location. The owner has a degree in archeology and provided us a most interesting tour of the Chan Chan ruins and the Moche Temple of the Moon. I highly recommend...

“Some rooms have a nice view of the park. These also have big windows so they get nice and warm during the day.”

“The rooftop room is cheaper than others but if u come on a rainy day check if the roof is intact (we saw gaps but not sure there is water proof stuff on it, bet it has.) It comes with a park view with sunset!”

“There is something for everybody. I have brought groups who preferred a boys dormitory & girls dormitory, with private rooms for couples or older members of the group. Beds are all big for European adults & uni students. Most rooms have a double and single at least, with the renowned Peruvian Paradise mattresses. It is very close to the centre, without the traffic or noise. Beware of taxi drivers who try to take tourists to places with similar names & colour schemes, with their intention of getting commission from competitors.”
