We have stayed in Hotel Borodino before and the hotel keep up its standard. We arrived in the evening and enjoyed a great meal in the bar.The menu and food was very good. The room was good but most of all almost soundproof. The breakfast was very good.Especially on the new years day. It served champagne on the buffet. Amazing. And a mall table with buljon and other stuff for those with a hangover. We will be back

I stayed one week in the Borodino and I must say it was really great!
The rooms are nice and clean and the people are very friendly. When I checked in they offfered me free wifi and free access to the gym and SPA area.I went to the room but wifi didn't work so I asked if would be possible to change to a room where it work and they did without complaining. As well the Restaurant in the Hotel was pretty much ok.
I booked this Hotel on the internet and I think it will be difficult to find something similar for that price in a city like Moscow. And its just about 10 minutes walking to the Metro Station.Great Hotel, great City, great week!!!

I can't quite figure out why all the previous reviewers panned this hotel. Okay, maybe the staff isn't the friendliest, but remember that we're talking about Moscow here. Maybe they lock the minibar and maybe the barman isn't friendly (I wouldn't know), but there is a minimarket 30 meters from the entrance. Maybe the health club doesn't open- I wouldn't know, since I was out of the hotel from early AM to dinner time. Certainly the food is not gourmet, but nobody from our group got sick, and there was enough to choose from. Most important (to me) is the room, and the room was spacious and clean, with plenty of hot water, clean towels changed daily, and a bathtub, TV (mainly Russian channels). The entire hotel was spotless. I can't speak about value since I came on an all-inclusive tour, but our guide assured us that one can't do better in Moscow in its price-range.

I don't get why this hotel has 4* even though it's Russian 4*. I mean it's nothing special at all.

#) The rooms are tiny though clean.
#) Personnel is not helpful. I've asked for laundry and when I could not find my clothes in the room, I was told that this is because I had to give a deposit and based on it they'd bring it back. I'm OK with the deposit or even paying forward but to me it's weird that no notification was left in the room and that I had to investigate it by myself. Also I asked for additional service: to give my knickers to laundry and it was rejected by administration and by laundry workers. The decision was just because there's no such a service in the list. When I asked if they could bring it to laundry nearby for money (e.g. concierge service) my request was also rejected.
#) The hotel has a SPA-cabinet but I could not make nail polish because it opens 10AM (and by this time I have to be already at my client's location) and shots down at 9PM (by this time I'm arriving to the hotel). It means that I have basically no opportunity to do it in the hotel unless I work regular 9-6 hours (consider transportation time in Moscow). I was lucky to find a nail-salon nearby (5 mins from the hotel) and this was fully booked cause it was working up to 11PM.
#) Wi-Fi connection is terrible. Living on both 7th and 10th floors I could not get decent connection to be able to write emails! not to mention conference calls. It just does not work. I have to sit in the lobby to skim through my email instead of using it in my room.

The only good thing is breakfast. Nothing to add.

When I'm coming to Moscow the next time I'd try to find a decent hotel nearby. I'd better walk 15-20 minutes to the client location and would get a good services instead of paying tons of money and getting virtually nothing except for a relatively comfortable bed.

Stayed at this hotel for the fourth time in the past 1.5 years, simply because my company has an agreement with this hotel as it is just around the corner. Therefore, for me, it is a must to stay there, for others, who are able to choose accomodation themselves, please read the following lines:
Despite the fact that the rooms are quite clean and that they offer free WiFi, there is really nothing positive to say about this hotel.
It starts at check-in: You hand over your credit card and they charge it straight away with the full amount of the stay you have booked in advance. If you need to leave a day or two earlier - bad luck for you, because they will not reimburse a single Ruble.
You arrive at the room in the middle of the night and discover that the minibar is locked. In order to get the key, you have to make a deposit of EUR 125 (Rubles 5,000). Sounds insane, but that is Borodino reality. Bring your own bottle of water to be on the safe site, cause you might get very thirsty during the night as the rooms are so much overheated and aircondition is not working that you get around 25 degrees at night. Opening the window? Sure, possible, but please be advised that the hotel is next to a train depot, operating 24/7 so the noise is unbearable.
Room service? Don't even think about it!
When you take the elevator in the morning to go down, take your time. Despite having 3 elevators, I never made it down from the 10th floor in less than 10 minutes. Walking down is not an option from the 10th floor for a lazy guy like me, as the temperature outside your room is even higher.
When it is raining outside and you need an umbrella, make sure you have deposited the 5,000 Rubles otherwise you won't anything from them.
During check out the question for the possibility of printing my company's name on the invoice was denied by the bored and unfriendly recepionist as "our account doesn't want us to do this any longer"!!!
I could go on for hours giving you reasons for not choosing this hotel!
If all this sounds petty to you, remember that it all adds up at the end of the day leading you to the conclusion that a stay at Borodino can be a real nightmare!

What a great discovery that hotel is ! History is all around (pictures of the wall with some historical descriptions, places, events, characters....). Beautiful location, nice decor, thoughtful amenities, good food with national and international dishes, gentle and kind stuff, cosy atmosphere ... definitely a place to adopt when staying in Moscow. I'll be back.

What I like about the place (My room) was its quite, cozy and the best house keeping.
Despite of the language barrier where they speak English less. They tried their best to assist to your needs.

Friendly hotelier , Great breakfast as well.

The only thing I dont like in General was the position of the toilet Bowl, almost on the side of the wall where a physically challenged people Will have a hard time to use When pooping.

Plus I believe no vidette was not yet introduced as they are still more on the tissue paper.

Hotel was clean and pleasant throughout! Comfy beds and a good size bathroom! Reception and concierge staff were some of the most friendly and helpful I have come across, check in was a breeze and they printed out our boarding passes late notice with no problems! Lobby Bar is well appointed and the beer was lovely! 10 minute walk to Krasnoalskaya Metro Station which can take you straight to Red Square, Kremlin etc. The hotel seemed far way from the centre at times but this was only due to the sheer size of the city overall! We had a lovely stay here and would recommend!

Very conveniently located, you can reach by foot the hotel in 15 min from the 3 stations (Lenigrad/Yaroslav/Kazan), even with luggage. You can also reach the Sokolniki exhibition center in 10 min by foot. That's the way I chose the hotel. I didn't expect much from the hotel, as hotels are usually either crappy or expensive in Russia. But I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms and a decent buffet-breakfast. Wi-Fi worked well everywhere. The mini-bar was not replaced and there was half an old bottle of Cognac (that I tried anyway and that I left). I tried also the gym, the pool (small), and the spa: the sauna didn't have a bucket of water and was therefore too dry to be visited, but the hammam was ok. Especially when it's for free and open all the day and late evenings. Overall the hotel looks good and big. I paid only 75eur / night, which I consider a very interesting price for such a level of hotel compared to the other options inside Moscow. (thanks also to the "fair trick").
