We stayed here for five nights. It’s a good location right on the water with lots of activities going on in the Harbour. Our room was on the harbour side great view ! Free shuttle bus is a saviour as the hotel is located away from transport links. The accomodation was very reasonably priced but the food offering is a bit expensive. Lots of dining options within a five minute walk.

I stayed for 2 nights with my gf. The rooms have a spacious balcony with a pair of chairs that you can relax with. We picked the room facing south, which had a marvelous view of the sea. The hotel is a 4-star quality and they is definitely worth what you pay for.
The hotel is a bit far from the city center and there aren't any stores nearby so it's best to buy before you head to your hotel. There is a shop on the premises but you wouldn't want to pay extortionate prices for certain food stuff. But they offer free shuttle bus services to and from Sannomiya bus terminal.

Amazing choice with several positives. We went as a family in a party of four (2 adults + 2 children).
The location is simply superb, close to several attractions (Meriken park, Mosaic, boat tours, Maritime Museum). The two mains bus lines for tourists stop at the hotel. The room had an excellent view of the ferris wheel, which displays lights shows at night.
The staff was extremely helpful in two specific situations:
- I lost my credit card on check in and the kept it for me;
- there was some confusion on our reservation through Booking and our room had only 3 beds (which was what I reserved); they moved us to a room with 4 bed with no additional charge, as a courtesy.
Highly recommended.

I went to this hotel for a business trip, but the whole stay is over-satisfaction! Especially the breakfast is quite delicious with local ingredients. And the room it’s with beautiful bay view. The only pity is the access to the recent railway station, you have to take 20 minutes’ shuttle bus to get to the hotel

Hotel has a fun feeling because it’s like being on a cruise ship. Even the balconies have been built to give the feel.

Rooms are a little dated but large and all have views.

Not far to walk to a big mall with lots of restaurants and shops but there is nothing really close. Unusual in Japan where there is a convenience store on every corner.

There was a free shuttle bus the next morning to Kobe Station.

If I was to stay in Kobe again I would probably stay more central but as a one off visit it was ok.

Despite being close to shops, it also has a convenience store located at the hotel.
Great beds and shower. The room seems a little outdated, but still confy and has great views. Choose a room that faces the Ferris wheel, it´s beautiful.
Great staff, easy check in and everything worked great for my family.
Would stay here again.

We had a lovely room overlooking the harbour. Spacious though a little tired. The bathroom could use a reno. The big knock on this hotel is the breakfast. Worst we had in Japan. Not much better than a Holiday Inn Express or Courtyard Marriott.

Cons:
1. This is the first hotel that I've been that charges staying guests to use their pool. & the charge is around USD10. which is exhorbitant considering the hotel rooms isn't cheap to start with.
2. The TV is tiny. For a supposedly 5star hotel, the TV is LCD,but only 26inch which was hard to watch in quite a big room. The only cable channel available was CNN, even local channels were few and most of channels were just static & noise.
3. There is no LAN cable in the room and you have to ask from the reception if you need to use internet, even though it is stated that it is free. WIFI signal was very weak.
4. No free bottled water in the room, there is a mini bar though. The convenience store is very far away but there is a minimart at the 1st floor lobby.
5. Bedspread/furniture is generally old/wornout. The rooms seem to be stuck in the same design/furnishings as 20 years ago.
6. AIrconditioner was so warm! The temperature stuck at 25degrees with no ventilation at night when we were sleeping and I kept waking up in the middle of the night covered in perspiration.
7. Breakfast is not included.

Pros:
1. Great toiletries - shampoo & conditioner was of good quality.
2. The hotel provided a free shuttle bus to the Sannomiya station.
3. All the rooms are ocean view, although there was a difference in whether you got the mosaic ferris wheel view or the industrial area view.
4. Bathrobes & bedroom slippers were provided.

Overall there are more cons than pros, I would try not to stay there again as it isn't worth the price just for the ocean view.

We really enjoyed Kobe and would recommend it. For a few days by the sea and away from the metropolis' around. However, if you have an aversion to noise, poor service, or very expensive restuarants I would stay elsewhere.

The hotel has a pleasure cruiser docked on the left hand side facing the sea. This works on approx. three hour round trip schedule and creates a hell of noise when it is docked. So much so, with the doors to the balcony open, the rooms vibrate. The cruiser also makes an audible noise all night. Get a room on the other side, if at all.

Check-in time is 3pm and this is strictly adhered to, you can not check in any earlier. So don't get there early from your previous destination. The shuttle bus from Sannomiya station goes from the south side of the station. Check in with the tourist office in the shopping centre for directions and also tourist voucher booklets. Careful on Saturdays, the hotel is rammed with weddings and all the wedding guests try to use the shuttle. Therefore, you may end up with a taxi ride if you do not stand your ground. Don't be fooled by the idea the Japanese are too polite or by the queues they form, when the doors open most would trample on you to get onto transport.

I stayed for approximately one month in July for business. The staff, housekeeping, front desk, bell captain's, restaurant, etc., were all excellent. Every staff member I encountered - and I probably encountered most of them - seemed genuinely interested in providing excellent service.

Location is pretty good. On the water - you can not get any more "on the water" then this hotel. My room had an amazing view of the port/water/Meriken Park. A very convenient (free) hotel bus will take you to the main train station - Sannomiya - in the heart of Kobe - 10 min, do your sightseeing, shopping, etc. and take you back. It is also located next to Harborland, which has some ok shopping and eating. If you're interested in walking, the hotel is very "walkable" to most places in the heart of Kobe. As long as it's not summer, I think walking is the better option. On the way to the station, you'll see many high end shops, nice buildings, places to eat, etc.

My room, as stated before, had an amazing view. It was clean, large, and non-smoking. Bed was comfortable - pillows not so much...but I can look past that. The patio was excellent, clean, two chairs and a table. If you're lucky enough to be there when there's a fireworks show, you will have an upfront view (granted you're facing the park). Housekeeping did an excellent job everyday. Laundry service was always spot on - no mistakes - cleaned, pressed, and packaged perfectly. My room had wired internet and WIFI - both worked flawlessly and at very fast speeds. I ran speedtest.net several times during my stay and I typically averaged 30 MB/s wired.

I ate breakfast everyday...for 30 days...at the downstairs restaurant. I ate dinner several times during my stay. The staff is excellent. The views are excellent. At first, trying all the different foods is fun, but after a while, it's the same everyday. During my time, they did not rotate dishes, it was the same dish, in the same spot, every day. However, the food was always fresh and delicious. I think those who stay less days, will find the selection more than adequate for their needs.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. The service is the best I have encountered and I travel a lot. Don't worry about it being slightly away from Sannomiya, the free hotel bus is very convenient.

That depends which side of the hotel your room is on you could always ask for a specific side the eating is good value at the shopping mall near the ferris wheel

I think that your best bet is to take a taxi straight from the airport to The Meriken Park Hotel but I have no idea of the cost. The hotel is a well known land mark on Naka Pier in the Harborland area. Everyone knows it. In my opinion, travelling to Sannomiya Station, then finding the free shuttle bus (in the bus station at the side of the station) would be difficult with a wheelchair. We had to change levels at the station (there is a lift/elevator) then we walked quite a way before we found the bus. However, once you do get to the hotel, the free shuttle bus is great. It will take you to the next hotel if you would like to have a drink there for a change. Then It drops you off in Sannomiya (a busy, bustling shopping area). However, it does not stop anywhere else. The hop-on-hop off bus at the right hand side of the red Port Tower might be very useful (you cannot miss the tower. It is straight in front of the hotel). That way you can see the whole of Kobe without a lot of walking. The Meriken Park /Harborland area is pretty flat as much of it is man-made, as good as you can get for a wheelchair. Have a wonderful holiday.

The hotel is located in the port and I think the free shuttle bus will take you where you need to go. Its a nice area and everything is in walking distance.
