We came across this hotel since we wanted to stay close to the Imperial Palace which was one of the main sites we had on our to do list for Kyoto, it's literally across the street.

However, if you are more interested in the Gion part of Kyoto, this will be too far away unless you do not mind paying for a taxi.

The hotel is rather unassuming, nothing really stands out about it which in itself is a plus, it simply depends on what you are expecting from your hotel stay. We appreciated the efficiency of the staff and how quiet it was.

Rooms feel a bit old and are quite small including the beds, at least the one we were assigned. Mind you, we booked at the last minute and Kyoto was rather full so there may be bigger room types. However, we only stayed in our room to sleep and, again, this is a very quiet hotel even when full so this is appreciate to rest after a day of long walks in Kyoto.

Breakfast has both Japanese and Western options which will ensure you are ok to start off a day of exploring.

The hotel is in good condition and room cleaning is done every day (not the case everywhere in Japan), which is very nice. The room is a decent size for Japan, it didn't feel cramped, and there is a closet for you to put your clothes in. It's also quiet, I never heard any noise from outside.

For breakfast you have a choice between Japanese or western sets, which do not really change day by day. I stayed here for a week, so it got repetitive. This is a hotel that has the facilities to hold weddings, banquets, has a restaurant with garden view, and a separate coffee shop. They could have a buffet breakfast.

The hotel in a quiet area and is right across the road from the imperial palace. It doesn't have many shops and restaurants around it. Dining choices are quite limited, you will have to walk about 10 min to get to an area with some dining options.

I recently stayed at this hotel as my first stop in Japan. The room is small for a solo traveler but in a really nice and quiet residential neighborhood. The staff really go out of their way to help me with Yamato carrier service. There is a vending machine on my floor which is not your average American vending machine. Grab a cold drink before combatting the scorching heat outside in July. The imperial garden which is now only a public park is right across the street, and there is a shrine next door whose mascot is a wild boar. It's supposed to protect people from back and foot pain. Walk to subway is pleasant if it's not scorching outside. I walked by several other hotels in this area that are now permanently closed. The price here is great.

This hotel's location would probably suit a tour group or conference more than independent travellers. It is located just across the road from the imperial Palace and its gardens, but for any other sight you will need to struggle with public transport. The hotel is four subway stops from the central station, and then about 15 minutes' walk from subway platform to the hotel door. There is about 10 minutes' walk to the nearest convenient bus stop. (Bus 51 does run much closer, but only once every hour.) The hotel itself is fine. Our room was spacious, well designed and clean, with many amenities. The staff were very efficient, if a little less friendly than in other Japanese hotels. The wifi was fine.

Stayed here for three nights in Kyoto for some sightseeing, after coming from a traditional Japanese ryokan near Kyoto Station beforehand.

Rooms were very...average. Nothing to write home about. Rooms were small and plain, but at least clean.

Hotel is located right next to the Imperial Palace grounds, but that's about all it's near. Located in the middle of the block, it is equally distant to the nearest subway stations, at least a 15 minute walk either way. We resorted to the much more convenient taxis which were not hard to catch on the street in front of the hotel. The nearest convenience stores are located near the train stations, so a bit of a walk. Some small restaurants along the strip, but we did not try any.

Honestly, my favourite thing about the hotel was the keys. Large brass keys - very traditional, ancient technology. I don't think I've ever seen keys like this used in a modern setting.

If you're in Kyoto, you're likely visiting a lot of the temples that rim the mountains on the edge of the city. You're better off choosing a hotel located closer to the train station or bus access.

Unfortunately a nice few nights were spoilt by too many mishaps towards the end of the stay. In spite of having booked a room with breakfast included, we were charged extra for it. Would not accept our Visa card for payment despite having booked with the card and insisted we walk 20 minutes out of our way to withdraw the amount in cash. Beds not made every day. Not impressed.

I really liked this hotel. Staff was super polite and gentle, the hotel is beautiful and clean, it even has some vending machines inside, which is great so you don't have to go outside to buy some beverages.
Best breakfast I had in JP. The continental and the Japanese one.
The location is good, but you have to walk some blocks to get to the subway. It's in front of one of the Imperial Palace's entries.
It's in a residential area so you can see people living their lives while walking on the streets around. It was a good experience, I really enjoyed it and recommend it. If I ever get to return to Kyoto, I would certainly stay in this hotel.

Because of disabilities,I requested a barrier-free room to share with my granddaughter for a conference, and we got a very large room. Service was excellent, even when the employees didn't understand much English. They were kind, patient, and eager to help. I saw no one smoking within the hotel the entire week we were there. Beds were clean and very comfortable. It is located right across from the beautiful Imperial Palace site. Lots of temples and restaurants within walking distance.

Good stay, due to a very late booking, we had to change the room but everything went smoothly and well coordinated.

Walking distance to the subway stations (2 at least).

A bit so-so:
The lounge closes a 8pm and not many things around so.
The breakfast appears expensive due to the very limited choice.
