Enjoy our hotel's modern Japanese design as you explore the historic capital. We are located in the heart of Kyoto, with easy access to all major tourist destinations. Step outside and it's only a short walk to Nijo Castle or Yasaka Shrine. Step inside and take in an undeniably Japanese, yet modern, decor. Perhaps that's why we've received TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence annually since 2011.

Stayed in this hotel in Kyoto for about 4 nights and was very pleased with its cleanliness, services and the staff's care and attention. The hotel was centrally located and walking distance to the subway station. We were close enough to walk to the Nijo Castle from there. There were many choices of restaurants, public transportation and stores in the neighborhood. We were extremely pleased and appreciative when the reception staff helped us schedule our transfer back to Tokyo to take our international flight to the USA. The agency that originally planned our tour did not provided us with enough time to commute to Tokyo to make our return flight on time so thankfully the staff in the hotel realized that and looked for other options. Their suggestion of the best available transfer to ensure arrival in Tokyo International Airport with plenty of time was a life saver for us! Thank you!

Very good hotel with very helpful staff. Well located for seeing the Nishi Market, the Gion and Ponticho. Ready access to buses and subways. A large grocery store (Life) is located next door. About 15 minutes by cab from Kyoto Station. In our experience MyStays are a good choice where ever you are traveling in Japan.

Room was small but clean and well organized. Breakfast was ok though you often have to wait in line to be seated. Its quite a walk from the metro stations but there are bus stops nearby. There is also a big grocery beside it, and lots of convenience stores and eating places nearby.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this great hotel for 2 nights in June. I was thinking of staying at a rokan but the ones that were in our price range were already booked up (advice: book early!) so i searched around for a hotel and found this one on tripadvisor. I booked through Agoda.com and the price was very decent -- less than $140USD a night.

The hotel is not hard to find at all. When you get to Kyoto station, take the Karasuma line two stops north to Karasuma-Shijo Station. From Shijo station get out of Exit 2 and walk left past Citibank. You will pass Holly's Cafe, Lawsons and the hotel is right next to a 24hr supermarket. Its right across from Hotel Oak. Prob about a 10 min walk or less from the station.

It just opened in March so it is clean and new. Check-in was a breeze and we got a room on the 12th floor. The rooms are a bit on the small size but if you're in Kyoto, i doubt you'll be staying in the room anyways so it's not a big deal. The bed however was a queen size and VERY comfortable! They even foam pillows - a great touch. The bathroom was a very decent size for Japan with separate tub and seat warming toilet.

The desk was very helpful and if you ask them, they will help you plan a route for all the sites you want to visit.

We got a 2 day unlimited transportation pass for 2,000Yen which is about $20 and was totally worth it. We took the bus everywhere which after some studying, is pretty easy to navigate.

The hotel is very near Nijo Castle and Nishiki Market. Nishiki is walking distance -- about 20 mins from hotel past Shijo station and is def worth a look. It is only open till 6pm so go early!

The hotel runs along Shoji-dori and just walking down towards downtown has a lot of great window shopping and fun things to see.

For sightseeing, we used the Lonely Planet guide walking tour and it was awesome. I highly recommend it.

I recommend staying at MyStays!! I hope this was helpful!

Shijo subway station is one stop from Kyoto station, and Hotel MyStays is only about 3 blocks away. It's also a short walk to the Hankyu train line which is an excellent way to travel to Osaka. First thing you'll notice is that you have to take an elevator to the second floor of the hotel for the lobby, which is modern, gleaming, and welcoming like the rest of the hotel. Front desk service is friendly and professional. The rooms are a nice surprise. They're fairly large, really well furnished, quiet, comfortable, and very clean. The flat-screen TV has a good selection of network and satellite stations. I had no trouble with the fast and reliable wifi. There's a small refrigerator and many electric outlets. You can see that a lot of attention has been paid to the design of this attractive hotel. The bathroom is similarly well equipped with a touch of luxury, definitely a step up from the basic prefab bathrooms I found in most hotels where I stayed in Japan. On the second floor there's an espresso machine with free coffee, and machines selling beverages including beer. This is not an expensive luxury hotel, but it was the most luxurious tourist-class hotel I've found in several trips to Japan. The next time I'm visiting Kyoto, the Mystays is the first hotel I'll look for a reservation.

We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon. The location of the hotel is great, a short stroll to the Shijo train station, few blocks to the Nishiki market and a walkable distance to Gion. The room is not big but decently layout, everything is well placed. Housekeeping was good, always pleasant to come back to a clean and tidy room after a long day out. Check in is strictly after 2pm but no problem leaving the luggage with the receptions and they will deliver the luggage to your designated room. Receptions staff was helpful in making restaurant booking and also organise to courier our luggage from Kyoto to Tokyo. WIFI connectivity was good in the room, free coffee and tea and free bathroom amenities at the reception area. Overall a very comfortable stay at a decent price, probably one of the best hotels we stayed during our honeymoon in Japan.

MyStays is a small business hotel. As such, we were ready for it to be functional and pretty basic. However, our standard triple-bed room was good-sized, very clean and neat, with creative use of space. The room was well lit and the bathroom's deep tub could serve as an in-house onsen. The mattresses were comfortably firm, and we had 3 pillows each - memory foam, normal pillow and a soft cushion. The hotel is non-smoking, and there is a humidifier-cum-ioniser. Staff at the hotel were most accommodating, and at the reception on the 2nd floor, there were beauty product samples to try, as well as additional amenities should you need them.
Although the walk to the hotel from Shijo-Karasuma station is about 7 - 10 minutes, it is quite a pleasant stroll. At the station, take Exit 24 which will bring you to Laque Department Store. If you have luggage, look for the elevator sign. Pass through the automated doors and the lift (a little hidden) will be to your right. Once out, walk straight down, past 3 roads. You should see, first, a Family Mart, then a 7-11, and finally Frescos, a 24-hour grocery store. MyStays is after that, on your right.
Location is great. There are innumerable food outlets in the area, and it is just minutes away from the Nishiki Market. The buses are also very convenient for sight-seeing. If you are temple-hopping, just take Bus 12 from opposite the hotel. It goes to Nijo Castle, past Higashi-Hongen-Ji and a few other shrines/temples, all the way to Kinkaku-ji Temple.

We stayed in 6 different hotels during our trip in Jan 2015. And this is the best hotel in terms of service, very friendly and helpful staff and the rooms were surprisingly big for the price we paid for. It was only 5000yen per night for two pax, it was even bigger than the hotels in Tokyo which we paid double this price. For location, it is very near to shijo station, 10mins walk. Nishiki Market is also nearby, 15minutes walk. Gion, 20minutes walk.
When you are in Japan, if you can walk to your destination, pls walk instead of taking bus and train. You will see alot of things in this way. We also totally love the free coffee and matcha milk vending machine at the lobby but it will be much more better if they don't have a time limit which is only until 8pm. Because by the time we went back to the hotel, it was already near midnight. Few doors away from this hotel is also a supermarket. Every night we are sure to stop by this supermarket to buy drinks, ice-cream, and snacks. It is so much cheaper here compared to the convenience stores.

They should b providing heater as Dec will be very cold. Still you can check with the hotel. There is no room service & restaurant is open only for breakfast. The menu we saw was Japanese Cousin. You can carry small rice cooker however you will have to carry voltage converter as the voltage in Japan is 100 volts.

We arrived before check in time The reception team gave us a room that had been cleaned etc early. There were lots of luggage stored in the foyer area next to reception desk so I guess it's not a problem. Incidentally the reception desk is not on ground floor so no public access.

Hi Garfieldl , good evening to you. Many apologies, just saw yr question. No problem with the hotel keeping your luggage. When we are in Japan for a month travelling different cities, we used the courier to transfer our luggages, totally no problem! Rest assured! Enjoy yourself there!
