We spent four nights at Ryokan Tomiya in Kyoto and were quite charmed by the experience. We had arrived early, but check in was around 3.30 or 4 pm, so we decided to leave our luggage at the reception. The gentleman was very helpful and provided us with a map of places to visit and a bus schedule. He even... More

My friends and I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. Location is perfect, the market and the Kyoto train station nearby. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. We really enjoyed the experience of a more traditional hotel and found the staff to be lovely and helpful. They really went out of their way to accomodate our needs and on... More

This place is not perfect, but it checks all the boxes you need when travelling. The rooms are small, but that is common in Japan. However, the staff, the location and the food are amazing. I have stayed here more than 10 times and would never consider staying anywhere else in Kyoto.

The position of this hotel was the reason for making the booking and is very convenient for late arrivals being in front of the station. We found the room clean and comfortable and the staff to be helpful and to speak English.

We stayed two nights at Tomiya Ryokan in July 2014. The hotel is at one-minute walk from the the Kyoto train station. The staff gave us a warm welcome, offering us many tips and indications to maximize our short stay in Kyoto. We chose this Ryokan to enjoy a traditional Japanese hotel experience, and actually we reached our goal: of... More

This is our 2nd stay at Tomiya Ryokan. Its comfortable and convenient as its just across the Kyoto Station. The hotel staff were welcoming and very helpful. We visited with my elderly mum this time, and she enjoyed staying here. We chose to have breakfast one one of the mornings, and it was nice and pleasant. If we have the... More

Close to the JR Kyoto Station about a 1 min walk, great, friendly traditional Japanese service and great rooms and food. This Ryokan is for travelers looking for a traditional Japanese experience. Tomiya Ryokan is run by a group of the friendliest and most gorgeous people you can meet and they provide great service. I would come back to this... More

Was looking forward to stay at this so-called Ryokan featured in "Japaneseguesthouse.com". The location is good as it is only a 3-5 mins walk to the Ryokan from Kyoto Station. We were told that we can only check in at 4 pm but when we reached at 3pm, the staff still let us check in. We were disappointed when we... More

This place had the cutest little lady help us out with everything we could possibly need. She was great. The rooms were comfortable, pretty good for the price we paid. The best part was how close we were to Kyoto station. which is like the main big station in the city. it only took us about 3 minutes on foot... More
