Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here on a tour. Hotel is located quite close to the station if you want to catch the train into Kyoto centre - not a difficult task at all. Hotel staff were very friendly. Lots of variety at breakfast, both western and Japanese food. Room was comfortable. Would reccomend.

Stayed here for four nights in 2 rooms . One large and one very small. Both rooms extremely clean and serviced well daily . Comfortable beds apart from the pillows which were up there with the worst I’ve ever slept on hard and lumpy almost as if filled with cat litter. Convenient location next to a rail station and outside a taxi rank . Area surrounded with many restaurants although a lot with Japanese menus only . Convenience store off the main entrance selling most things you could need , also had automatic teller machine. Would recommend this hotel

The rooms are clean and nice, the staff is nice and professional. The breakfast is Japanese and western and just great. Unfortunately the spa is not for people with tatoos - not even covered. That's the only minus

Nice location is next to subway station. A number of places to eat around hotel. Nice restaurant in building in Basement floor with a english menu. We have two rooms. The large room had twin beds and was large the Standard room is very small. Restaurant for breakfast was ok but needed more variety. Overall the staff were friendly. 15min taxi trip to Kyoto station or you can take the subway. Beds were comfortable and facilities were good. Tv does not have any english channels which was a bit frustrating.

I arrived in Kyoto after a fun week in Toyko and initially wasn't sure about the hotel. It was really clean, nice staff, a spacious room and in retrospect it was one of my preferred hotels of the trip. It was only when I moved hotel after a few day to another part of Kyoto that I realised that the Rhino Hotel was such a great location for getting to tourist attractions. If you check the subway lines from there you can easily reach most of the attractions in the west of Kyoto and its for this reason I would recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. I understand Japanese accommodation is typically small but this room was tiny. Very little room for luggage and to move past each other. Australian readers this is smaller than an ibis budget, ok for 1 night but no longer. The rooms were clean and staff lovely. Breakfast buffet was not worth the cost. The gym opens late in the morning and is an additional 1080 yen per visit and nobody with tattoos permitted here or the pool. Located conveniently near train and bus.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in November during the red leaf peak season. Price is still reasonable, location is good. It takes about 5 minutes walk, you can come to the nearest station or bus stop where you can go to the city centre directly. Hotel is clean, staff is very friendly though few of them English is not very good they still try very hard to help. They have a car park next to the hotel that you need to pay, since we came in red leaf Peak season, we didn’t drive in one day when we went to the most popular temples as suggested by the hotel staff. I think this is very useful tips as the car park fee is very expensive in those temples and in city centre.
