Stayed here for 5 nights and explored Kyoto with its surroundings. We got a corner room and it was BIG. You need to take a bus if you want to go downtown, the location is a bit of the main streets. Service and cleanliness was perfect.

This hotel is in the centre of everything, transport, restaurants, shopping all is very close. We stayed in this hotel in Kyoto for one reason and this was to visit the temples. We stayed in the executive suit and I must say the views are lovely and the room is very clean and professional. The shower and bath is beautifully...

I recently visited this hotel for a business trip. I found it to be very comfortable. The rooms are spacious. The best part of the hotel is the location. There are many restaurants near the hotel and there is Seven Eleven Convenience Store in the same building. The hotel has option for Japanese as well as western breakfast. The hotel...

2nd time staying at this hotel. Close to the extensive bus service that will take you to all the important must sees of Kyoto. Hotel staff friendly and super accommodating. When checking in, was given a map around the hotel with restaurants, ATMs, Mini Marts, and any other required facilities as well as the bus maps for planning trips. Rooms...

This hotel offered great service. The front reception staff were so helpful. They spoke English and had every map possible to help me navigate my stay. I am so grateful for these wonderful people. The location is right by the Saiin subway station which runs the Hankyu Railway...this can take you further into Kyoto (to Kawaramachi) for some shopping. The...

Rhino is a nice looking hotel that is presented well. It was a bit tricky to get to when we first got off the shinkansen at Kyoto. It's a bit of a mission to get the subway there if you don't know what you're doing, we ended up getting a taxi as it was late and I couldn't be bothered...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
