I walk from Kyoto station about 5 min. . Kyoto West Station Hotel is not big but it has a good onsen and a Japanese ryokan room type. I think a room not included breakfast is expensive , next time I will fine a cheaper room.

I book a 4 person room, the floor is tatami with a japanese style table. You have to make the bed yourself. The shampoo and soap are provided in a small packet. Overall they have every basic stuff except for hairdryer.

Stayed here for 1 night. Room was huge, and we had the experience of using Futons for a bed. Fortunately, there were 2 of us, and we were in a "4 person" room. So we we able to double up and make thicker futons. Breakfast was amazing. All you can eat buffet. Lots of veg, salad, bacon, sausages, chips, eggs,...

We had so much fan staying at the Japanese style room with the minimal interior, the leg-free chairs, the futon and the walls. We loved to have the kimonos and to do some photo shots in them. The service is kinda limited though. And no internet in the rooms.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
