Very little to add to previous reviews, except that there is indeed a very small pleasant onsen. We had two rooms in the back, and loved our stay. The hostess was really fantastic. One night she even walked us all the way to our restaurant (which she booked for us) above the railway station.

We spent our last day in Kyoto with Ohanabo. As we have started our trip to Kinosaki onsen with a ryokan stay, we wanted to try out another ryokan experience in Kyoto but didn't want break our budget. Based on the good reviews, we found Ohanabo and opted for dinner and breakfast package for our family of 4. Food and...

It is a tradtional ryonkan of one hundred years and with this comes frayed interiors, crammed rooms and no onsen at all . My poor husband who is a 6 footer plus kept knocking his head on ceiling lights and eaves. With myself having knee replacement and osteoarthiritis, Ohanabo was a dangerous choice with sloping & steep stairs which were...

I stay in this ryokan for 3 night in Kyoto for Gion Matsuri and one word. I never regret a single decision for this. Wanted to review it earlier but I was too busy with work. So here goes. From the first step into this ryokan you will be greated by the Okami san . She is very friendly and...

We felt welcome from the moment we entered Ohanabo Ryokan! Our hostesses spoke good English and answered all of our (probably stupid) questions cheerfully. Our room was beautiful in its simplicity. Our kaiseki dinner, served in the room, was delicious. The women came in to move our low table and set up our beds when we were finished with dinner....

Made us fall in love with Japan even more. Don't be put off by the price (which is average for Ryokan anyway) - the room was HUGE. Separate living area to bedroom and just great to relax before and after sight-seeing. Location not really draw here as Kyoto such a huge city that anywhere you go needs transport. Hosts extremely...

We had a wonderful stay in this traditional Japanese Inn. Staff exceptionally warm, helpful and friendly and recommended a great local restaurant (Iso Ism). At the ryokan, the Japanese breakfast was amazing. Our room with shared bathroom was compact but our next night in a 2 room suite with bathroom was very spacious. Highly recommended.

This place was the highlight of our trip, me and my brother stayed for 3 nights and couldn't of felt more at home. Would recommend to anyone staying in Kyoto, the staff really go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Japan.

From the minute you register guests at Ohanabo feel taken care of. The entire staff went out of their way to make our stay in Kyoto enjoyable. They are always ready to help and their English is excellent. Restaurant recommendations were outstanding. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are a bit small by American standards, but more than adequate....

I booked this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews and I now see why it is rated so highly. Lovely spacious rooms, extraordinarily helpful staff and perfect location in Kyoto. I can't recommend Ohanabo highly enough.
