First of all, the location is great. It's 20 to 30 mins away from Kyoto station by walking, and about the same distance to the main nishikki market, daimaru, nomura tailor, etc. There is a delicious ramen place nearby, and a family mart. Secondly, the place is lovely. Living ther

My spouse and I recently stayed at Toshiharu Ryokan for three nights in mid-November and enjoyed it very much, with a great deal of privacy.

Thank you very much for your stay with us and your wonderful comment posted here. Really glad to know that you totally liked your experience here including our Japanese bathroom, breakfast, and the place we were located. We are sorry for the inconvenience of public Wifi, but we relieved to hear that our pocket Wifi was helpful enough to you. We know that some of our cultural things are unfamiliar to you, it might take certain time to get used to. However, it's our great pleasure that you enjoyed the cultural difference and felt the authenticity. We are really happy to hear that. Hope you could fully explore the city of Kyoto, which could be one of the highlights among your enjoyable stay in Japan. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon! Thank you

Thank you very much for staying with us for three days. We really appreciate your warm comment with every single detail. It's our great pleasure that you fully enjoyed your stay and liked our Japanese lifestyle. It's been more than 60 years since we started running this ryokan, lot of feedbacks from our guests have been a huge motivation for us. We always try to make our guests feel comfortable, and try our best to improve our service. If you liked it, we cannot be happier than this. As you may know, Kyoto has a lot of aspects depends on the season. For example, we are sure that you can enjoy spectacular scenery of Kinkaku-ji temple covered with snow in winter, and beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. Hope you are visiting us again soon! Thank you again for your stay with us and your wonderful comment posted here!

How far is your ryokan from Kyoto station and to Gion?
It's only one station by subway to Kyoto station, so I arrive in about 10 minutes. When they walk, it takes about 20 minutes. If it's a taxi, it's about 5 minutes (about about 700 yen). If it's a bus for 20 minutes when they walk to Gion, it takes about 15 minutes. 京都駅へは、地下鉄でたった一駅なので、10分程で着きます。 徒歩だと20分位掛かります。 タクシーだと5分位(約700円程)です。 祇園までは、徒歩だと20分、バスだと15分位掛かります。

Any private toilet and bath in room?
There is only one room with a restroom in inside of the building by a room name as May (satsuki). Other rooms go out of the room, and are immediately, but a shared restroom (3)and a bathroom (2) are.

Are there rooms available for 3 ppl? We will be travelling with our 7 yr old son.
Each room can fit 3 ppl easily. You can request for an additional futon (mattress). Just take note that the room next to the entrance is also near the stairs. So if you're a light sleeper, it will be better to request a room away from the entrance.
