It was $208 for 5 nights (book early, like 3-4 months early). The facilities are great. The bed was comfortable. The third floor has 3 toilets in the restroom so don’t let not having one in your room scare you. The shower and bath were great. You can take a bath in the public bath or they did have regular showers. No need to bring your own shampoo etc. just maybe a wash cloth. The pajamas are one size fits most but I don’t think they would fit plus size to if that’s you email ahead. It is about a 5 minute walk to Kyoto Station. I recommend shipping your luggage from Tokyo. I shipped mine a day ahead of me through Sagawa at Tokyo Station. There is also a Sagawa at Kyoto station. It’s close to one Kyoto subway line that also stops at Kyoto Station and near many tourist sites

Economical hotel. There are no showers and toilets in the rooms, but there are washrooms. The communal toilets and bathrooms are very clean. There is also a uniquely Japanese large public bath. In the lounge area, it is possible to enjoy authentic drip coffee and a variety of teas brewed from leaves. And these are free of charge. Shuku is very reasonably priced and is close to Kyoto Station.

Decently priced hotel/hostel concept. Unlimited coffee and tea, there was a public bath where you can soak after a full day of walking, the location was probably 5-10 mins to Kyoto Station, the place was very clean and new, the common area was very cozy (it was like one big living room with several reading materials, comfy couches and coffee), they also had a place to borrow a variety of things you might need (like chargers, adapters, board games, etc). Finally, the washer and dryers for your clothes (great for people who pack light).

Heads up that the room was tiny and did not come with a toilet & bath. Public toilets were in every floor and public bath + shower rooms in the 1st floor). The room only came with a bed, a wash basin, tiny fridge, and a small counter. Meant really for sleeping, and not necessarily to spend too much time in the room as not much space to move around. If there were 2 in a room, it's best you don't move around the same time so that you have a bit of space. They spent more on making the common areas decent (which is fine, except there may be some people who gets a bit claustrophobic). They also do not do housekeeping unless you request for it (chargeable) or stay at least 4 days.

Nonetheless, the room, although small, was designed well and beds were extremely comfortable. I'd still highly recommended this hotel. The common toilet & bath were new concepts for me, but was actually quite nice and comfortable.

First of all, it is not clearly stated but this is a hostel. The walls are extremely thin and your neighbours chatting until 3am distracts your good night sleep. The bath is very small. Imagine you are squeezing into a small bath tab with bunch of naked strangers. I would say *easy hotel* is a far better version of this kind. Most of the guests are young Asians.

It is not worth spending ¥7000 per night at all. Avoid this hostel and go for a cheaper hostel or add ¥3000 to stay a proper hotel to make the most of your Kyoto visit.

I would never stay in this hostel.

I like the location and its walking distance to Kyoto station or subway and near a convenient stall. Breakfast, you are given three choices (if you don't take beef, then only 1 choice or if you are vegetarian, also one choice). Room is small with a handwashing area. The bed is not very comfy and the mattress is a bit thin. The extra pillow is available. And the soundproof of the room is not great. Washing machine and dryer are available and it's free. Each floor, there is a male and female toilet and the shower area is very interesting. ONSEN!!!! Spacious and i kind of like the onsen especially after a long day.

My first impression of this hotel was great - beautiful design, tea and coffee bar etc. but by the end of my four night stay I am less than impressed. The lack of English speaking staff is infuriating, the lobby is nothing but a glorified kitchen for the sister hotels and the location is far from most of the things you want to see in Kyoto.

Having accidentally booked and paid for an extra night at the hotel I went back to reception less than 12 hours later to ask for a refund. They told me that because I booked through their website I would only receive a 20% refund. No goodwill gesture offered given I have been here for four nights already, AND I only booked the room a few hours previously. After asking for the receptionist to recognise that I was told no, they would keep 80%. After 30 minutes of them messing around with my card in the card machine, they told me they could not refund it because of my card. The same card that they were able to charge the night before, and the same card that has taken refunds everywhere else in the world!

So now I have a fully booked and paid for room that I do not need and the hotel does not have a manager, contact number for a manager etc. that I can speak to. Very disappointing and others should be warned!

finding this hotel not difficult at all
first time Stay here for 4days 3nights quite pleasant to arrive at the hotel, hotel's look nice and clean,
reception is friendly and welcoming. the room quite small which is ok for the single traveller or manageable as a couple, compact and clean same go with restroom each floor and hotel share bathroom first floor (same floor as check-in desk) is an ok, need to be cleaner and if you are ok seeing other guests naked and not shy in the bathroom while dry yourself off is quite a experiences by the way male and female bathroom is separate from each other. checking out from the hotel easy too as the hotel has a machine for you to interact. I do recommend this hotel for a try but next time when I'm in Kyoto will book Sakura Terrace at the further one near Kujo Station it looks amazing !!!!

The location was great. An easy walking distance to the Kyoto train station and on a quiet street. Nearby restaurants & shopping including a Family Mart at the corner was convenient. Wi-fi & lounge area good including in-room Wifi. Reception staff and breakfast staff excellent. Clean shared shower/bath. Carpet in hallways are worn, old & need to be replaced. Room 318 was very, very tiny - way too cramped. Food for dinner was not good - everything is frozen & heated up - not worth the cost. Breakfast is okay. There are 3 choices from a menu plus a small buffet of food. Coffee very weak and often not replaced when the pot empties but you can ground your own coffee.

What a nice little gem this hotel is! It is the newest one of the Sakura hotels (Sakura The Terrace and Sakura The Gallery are just steps away from The Atelier).

Great new and modern concept with a nice spacious and modern decorated lobby / living room space. I liked the fact that they have shelves with little items you can borrow from the hotel (like travel adapters etc.). Very smart concept.

Rooms are small but convenient.
I did not mind to have my own bathroom at all. You have your own sink with all kinds of nice toiletries, a hair dryer, slippers and room wear all in your room.

The public bath house is wonderful!!! They have regular shower cabins, but please do yourself the favour to try the Japanese hot bath (Onsen). The explanation of how this works is all on a card in your room but it is so nice! You wash yourself first sitting down on a small stool and then soak in the wonderful hot tub (the tub is not for cleaning yourself, you only go in there AFTER you thoroughly showered yourself).
Just put on your room wear and slippers, take your towel and walk your way to the bath house...it is a very traditional japanese experience (there is one for women and one for men)

Location is great! just 5 minutes walking from Kyoto station and a short walk from Tofukuji temple and the Keihan line (taking you to Gion, Fushimi Inari etc.)

Staff was so friendly and nice! Spoke excellent English as well.

Would highly recommend staying here!! It is sort of a luxurious hostel, it felt so cosy

We absolutely LOVE this hotel and were so sad to have to leave when our trip ended! This was a perfect hotel for us. The room was somewhat small, but so well-planned and well-organized. The bed was large and comfy, with space underneath for our suitcases and other items. There were outlets at the head of the bed to plug in our phones and computers in order to charge them overnight. The room was equipped with a sink and areas to hang our clothing. Immaculately cleaned bathrobes and slippers were provided. Bathrooms on each floor were cleaned many times per day. An entire shower/dressing room was provided downstairs, with a wonderful hot tub to soak in morning or evening. The lobby was cozy and welcoming, with coffee and tea provided by the venue free of charge, as well as the ability to purchase breakfasts or dinners. Live music was streamed in from their sister hotel (around the corner). Umbrellas were provided in the event of rain (which happened most days that we stayed there). Staying in this hotel really added to the good feeling about our trip to Kyoto.

I was wondering if there is a smoking area anywhere on the grounds?

Yes it is I skyped in this room with my friends But as said, the room is only just a bed (very nice rooms by the way!) The lobby/cafe area is very nice, trendy and spacious too so you might do it there. It was never busy when I was there and they have some nice corners.
