Recently stayed here for the 5th.time,this time with my 16 y.o. Grandson. Eimi & Hiro were so helpful & friendly, as always. Very kind & generous family. It is such a beautiful area — just a short walk to Kiyomisudera Temple. Easy walking distance to...More
Stayed there for 3 days with our 5yo daughter.
Location:ok, slightly uphill (not very convenient if you have heavy luggage), just at the foot of Kyomizu-dera temple, 10-15min walk from Gion area. Very quiet at night, super touristy and noisy during the day.

communicateed via online as well. We didn't cimmunicate with hanakiya directly. From the airport we took a taxi. The driver didn't know the place so it is always handy to bring the map and address with japanese translation. it is near the temple/tourist spot.
We found the main house and the owner was there so she accompanied us to the annex. the road leading to the annex is quite hilly so it was quite challenging to roll down our suitcases.
well, we had a nice time there as it was a nice experience to stay in a traditional Ryokan/japanese house. The owner is fluent in english and very helpful.
enjoy your stay :-)
