We traveling as family with & and have 3 room for 4 nights in Daiwa Royal Grande Kyoto after Xmas 2019.
That was a great experience in our trips as a family holiday.
Hotel had organised all the rooms located in same floor in a short time when we check in at midnight, which makes us so much easier.

the hotel is close to trainstation and 7-11 right next to it.

Daiwa Royal was a place and value for money!!!
We went few different hotels in different city during our Japan trip. Daiwa Royal was the cheapest but the most value as the breakfast quality, the size of room and all details.
The lounge was pretty simple but great view, we had good family time and feel home away home.

We would love to consider of Daiwa hotel group in Japan instead of other hotels when next visit based on our experience at Kyoto.

Wanted a little bit of luxury for the New Year. This hotel advertises an Executive Lounge but unfortunately due to the Coronavirus situation the lounge is closed which was a great disappointment…so please be aware of this before you book.
There are 2 Daiwa Roynet Hotels on this side of Kyoto station…the name is not Daiwa Royal as mentioned here on TripAdvisor…this hotel is the 2nd one along the street..not the one directly above 7 11.
The hotel feels new.The lobby is luxurious.
The Executive double room was well decorated with a great bathroom - a rainforest shower and bathtub (and L’Occitane toiletries)
The space is pretty tight though…it would be difficult to open a suitcase in that room…and the button handle on the wardrobe space was not easy to grasp and open.
Breakfast was included in the deal…last order was from 09.30.The restaurant was not busy from 09.00.There are good health and safety protocols in place (thermometer check on entry…hand sanitizers…and gloves to serve yourself)
The Japanese food selection was excellent for Oshogatsu…but there were also half a dozen western foods on offer as well as an omelette station.
The staff in this hotel are well-trained.After an initial miscommunication they went the extra mile to arrange a surprise birthday cake which was greatly appreciated!
The hotel is an easy walk from the East Exit of the huge Kyoto station. There are a number of small and impressive places to eat in Asty Road and there are two 7 11 convenience stores on either side of the hotel.
Would definitely like to stay again if/when the Executive Lounge is re-opened and I could get the same price as this again.

I could not fault this hotel. It has a great location within five minutes walk of Kyoto station. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

On arrival we were offered a drink at the bar in return for accepting an “eco policy” of not having housekeeping. As we were only staying two nights this was fine.

The room was compact but perfectly suitable. The beds are comfy and they also provide a Nespresso machine I.e. proper coffee!

As we were tired from traveling we ate at the La Terrazza restaurant on the ground floor. I was a little nervous about it, not knowing the reputation of the food but I have to say it was absolutely delicious. Some pictures below - set menu 6 courses for around ¥7500 (about £50pp). Breakfasts equally good.

Arrived this afternoon prior to check in time. Front desk staff very accommodating in taking our luggage and put us all on the same floor and some rooming next to each other. Just checked out their restaurant and had fresh salad and Italian pasta. The serving staff is exceptional. The good is great. We especially enjoyed the presentation of t he dishes that we ordered. I would go to the restaurant again to check out other food. I would write to review its breakfast in the morning. :)

Last week, I stayed in the Daiwa Hotel in Aomori, and it was great! Who would have thought that Daiwa, a gigantic housebuilder known for cheap, ugly prefab houses, ran nice, modern hotels with great service?

But alas, this foray into high class has clearly gone to their heads.

Today, I tried to book a room for the family for next week-end but, strangely, there wasn’t any way to indicate that we are two adults and two kids. You know how every hotel on the planet asks you to state how many adults and children, and the age of these children? In my case, 8. Like, every hotel and every booking site on the face of the planet? Not this hotel.

So I write an extremely polite and flattering email saying a) I loved staying in their Aomori hotel, b) would like to book 2 nights in the Kyoto hotel but c) am unable to do so due to what I describe above and could they kindly assist me to arrange a booking?

Here is their reply, abbreviated and very very slightly enhanced:

We don’t have a hotel in Aomori, you stupid fool! And what’s more, children age six (!!!!!!) are not children, they are adults, so your 8-year old has to sleep in a separate room. Take that, you disgusting foreigner! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

OK, I am exaggerating slightly but not much!

Can you imagine writing to, say, the Park Hyatt in Washington, saying ’I loved staying at the Hyatt in Boston, can I book a room in your hotel please?’ and getting a snarky reply saying ’We don’t have a hotel in Boston, you eejit!’?

No, neither can I.

I've been at this hotel during a one week trip in Japan with my family. We chose the hotel based on reviews, and because it is managed by Italian and it is at walking distance from Kyoto statioin, so extremely convenient to travel around to/from Kyoto, and also inside Kyoto since the busses to visit the city are all departing/arriving in the square in front of the station.
The hotel is extremely well kept, elegant, clean, with wide rooms (not so common in Japan) offering all services.
The reception has people speaking Italian, which is useful for directions and suggestions.
Wifi is free and stable.
The hotel is a bit on the expensive side, but all of the convenient added values from it make it worth the money.
In the hotel there is also a very high quality italian restaurant, which I will describe in a separate review.

I stayed at this hotel during 17~19 Jan, 2020. And there was a water supply issue happened at 19 Jan midnight which affected the whole hotel. No water to flush the toilet, not able to take bath, wash hair, brush teeth. When we talked to the manager (主任), he offered no helps but just keep asking us to wait, with no fixing ETA could be provided. When I said I really want to take a bath as my face and hair are oily after having yakiniku the night, the manager invited me to take bath at the staff room. How ridiculous it is?!

Everyday I was greeted with smiles and friendliness by all the staff. Breakfast was delicious and has a good selection. I remember Onishi greeted me warmly with his smile and eagerness to serve us. When we were trying to plate a nice spread of desserts for our friend's birthday, his proactiveness warms us when he came up with a candle for us. Without us asking, the staff also join in the celebration and treat the birthday friend special treats and attention. We liked to thank all the staff of Daiwa for taking such good care of us.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our stay in Kyoto. On arrival the hotel lobby is luxurious, clean and spacious and we were greeted by friendly staff.
Our room was clean, comfortable and a good size. The bathroom had a fantastic rainfall shower and plenty of toiletries.
Location is superb right near the train station, even though our room looked out towards the station and we could see the trains passing by the soundproofing was excellent and we never heard them.
Definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kyoto.

I stayed here for 3 nights in mid April for my first visit to Kyoto. The location is excellent being only 5 minutes from Kyoto station and a short walk to a bus stop to take you to some of the major sights in Kyoto. The executive lounge was excellent with great views ( being able to see the Shinkansen leaving/arriving at Kyoto station. All the staff were excellent great and was talking to some of them who worked in other Japanese hilton hotels that I have visited ( Conrad Tokyo and Hilton Hiroshima for example and would be visiting them again on this trip to Japan). I loved the matcha salt flavoured popcorn in the lounge in the afternoon and evening as well as the caramel flavoured coffee capsule in the lounge. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner. I was upgraded to a Queen Executive room which was very nice. My only negative comment would be that the queen rooms are a bit more compact than I am used to in other Japan Hiltons and it was difficult to put all my toiletries close to the bathroom sink area ( my fault for booking the Queen rooms without checking the room sizes as the king rooms look a good bit larger and more like other Hiltons.) next time I would book the king rooms. However the rooms were very comfortable , quiet and well appointed with good working air conditioning as Kyoto was in the mid 20s during my visit. Location is hard to beat and the fitness centre was very good. I would stay here again.
