Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a nice property. The room was bigger than we anticipated. They had the traditional buckwheat shell pillows, though regular, softer ones were also available. They were pretty rigid about breakfast times for our group, but there were good options for both Japanese and western breakfast items, and there was lots of fruit, which was unusual in Japan, but very welcome here. It is in a good location within walking distance of many sights. Our bathroom had a bidet with a built-in sink that came on automatically when you flushed – very efficient! The bath set-up was interesting – the toilet in its own room, the shower in its own room, and the sink in the bedroom. It was quite clean but housekeeping was sporadic – some days we didn’t get clean glasses, other days we were missing a towel or two, some days bottled water wasn’t replenished, some days the wastebasket didn’t get emptied – it was weird. The staff was friendly, though few spoke much English. We'd stay again.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel on our trip around Japan, it was in a great location around 10 mins walk from the main shopping areas. It's closest subway station was only 3-5 mins walk away so it was easy to get to from Kyoto station. Our room was a good size, clean and comfortable in my opinion this is a great place to base yourself in Kyoto.

We absolutely loved staying here ( ok yes the rooms are small but you can see that in the pics before you book ) no hidden surprises it’s compact but everything you could possibly want was in the room. We slept very well. The price was fair for what was given.
Breakfast was ok not the biggest choice but you won’t go hungry. The Japanese breakfast is also worth trying one day. The lady in the breakfast room is Charming and goes out of her way to make sure you are happy.
The reception staff were very very helpful with info and booking us reservations at restaurants we wanted to try.
The forwarding luggage assistance was perfect.
The staff are very friendly and a credit to the hotel.
We loved Kyoto and this location was perfect for us.

I’m quite surprised by many of the reviews on here.
We booked in only this afternoon, the hotel is nice and location is fine. It is a City centre hotel after all.
The bathroom is good with a high spec toilet and a wet area and a ‘deep’ bath but at 6’2 i doubt i’d fit in.

There are usb charging cables but no wifi roaming devices as some people say but these reviews were pre covid.

My big complaint is that there is absolutely no storage. No drawers, or shelves The ‘wardrobe’ is just two rows of metal runners with 5 hangers. All fully exposed to the room and which you can’t help hitting when you go from door to bed
The intriguing thing is that there is a full size door next to this. It opens into the room to reveal… a wall. Really handy for storing er large sheets of plywood maybe, as long as they are not more than an inch thick. We thought it might be a connecting door .. it’s not.

There is a small bedside table on one side only. There is no reading light on the right side of the bed.

There are only two pillows. As there is nowhere to store any additional ones as are usually found in even a premier inn.

We have to keep all of our clothes in our suitcase, but we did find a use for an odd sized table as a suitcase stand. Oh yes and unlike the similar hotel in Hiroshima last night there is only one chair.

I look forward to a response from the management team .

The location is a few blocks away from the main streets, but that was okay. We used the subways a lot, but they were not close enough to drag luggage through the streets (taxis are inexpensive). A few nice cafes close by. I definitely recommend having breakfast there, as there are not good alternatives close by. Extremely clean and extremely quiet. My wife and I had a standard twin room, which was adequate for space. The front desk people are extremely polite, but generally speak poor english.

This hotel was superbly clean and the rooms well equipped. We had a standard room which was far too small for travellers with luggage. We couldn't lay the cases on the floor or even pass each other at the foot of the bed. When we were offered an upgrade through tripadvisors it wasn't worth it as only had one night left. The company were at fault for booking us such a tiny room as they knew we were travelling for 18 days so would have luggage. The staff at the hotel were lovely, polite and efficient. The breakfast offered a poor choice for westeners but offered a lovely Japanese one. Would stay there again but in a different room. Good location

I did not like the location as you had to walk some distance to get to the subway station. The room had adequate space. AC worked. The breakfast was almost average. You did get to choose a Japanese breakfast, but the buffet option was rather limited.
The toilet seemed to have a mind of its own. It flushed all by itself without me pushing any buttons.
The guest lounge was available, and a free drink was advertised. That free drink was a glass of cold water or coffee/tea.

I need to mention the bathroom!! The shower/bath room was the highlight of our trip! Large bathtub with shower room!
After staying in many cramped hotel rooms over our trip, this one was more than moderately comfortable including luxury feather pillows, deluxe air conditioning, blockout blind for sleeping and even included a mobile for GPS for those of us international travellers who do not have a sim. The staff were more than accommodating and friendly, and had no issues with language barriers.

Only downside is the location was only okay and the hotel offered no city view.

Hotel is tucked in an alley but very close to shijo station and the main nishiki market along the majot shopping street.

Rooms are nicely appointed though some of the arrangement can take getting used to. This is probably typical of most Japanese hotel. Bed was comfortable , and love the free phone given to roam kyoto.

Excellent service. When i came in wet from the rain , a towel and warm tea was given.. They also helped booked restaurants which was a nice touch.

The room came with a free breakfast and this was very good as well. A choice of japanese and western meal was provided.

All in all, this was an excellent stay, and i wouldn't hestitade to stay again.

For those who liked their internet, this was excellent as well. Fast and little interruptions
