My husband and I visited Japan as part of our honeymoon and our stay at the Keio Prelia in Kyoto was one of our favourite places to stay!

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were warm and welcoming (even giving us a little gift to celebrate on check-in!), and the location makes it ideal for exploring more of the city. The room itself was spacious, with a good view over Kyoto, with a comfortable bed and all necessities you could need.

One of our favourite parts (and an added bonus) was the public bath - clean, warm and relaxing, ideal for weary travellers!

We can’t recommend this hotel highly enough to anyone considering a stay in Kyoto.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights after being in quite a small e-hotel in Shinjuku for 7 nights. The spacious, clean room was highly welcomed!

The lobby was nicely decorated, relaxing and had welcoming/accommodating staff.

The bathrooms were stocked with mini toiletries (hair elastics, razors, toothbrush and toothpaste etc) and the shower was amazing (Multi head and body spray)!
They stocked our room with water bottles and fresh nightgowns daily.

The location was a bit of a walk from downtown Kyoto, but other than the distance, everything about this hotel was perfect.

(I unfortunately didn't make time to visit the bath area)

I would 100% consider re-booking here in the future

Stayed in 4 different hotels while traveling around Japan.
This one the cheapest and definitely the best one.

Rooms big, clean and modern.

Staff really friendly.
Good location. 10 mins walk to the main street and markets.

There is 2 washing machines on the ground floor, but if they are taken, once you pass, females entry to the baths, there is 2 more, just if you a female, good to know if 2 pain ones taken.

Unfortunately the bar/restaurant was closed for private party's all 5 nights that we were there so could not try it out.

Additional, if you loose room key card they charge you 500yen for new one. In my situation I just left it behind me in the room, but was still charge for it. Never heard this in any hotel that we stayed around the world.

The general manager was very rude with me, I’ve never experienced that in any hotel in my life.
I thought the checkout time was 12pm, they called me at 11am to tell me to go out, I told them I was sorry for the late as I thought it was at 12 and they kept calling me every 5min to tell me to go out. Once downstairs the general manager was very angry and rude, I had the hotel pyjama and asked politely if I could go to the kimono shop where my clothes were while leaving them my luggage just for 1h, he forced me 10 times to call the kimono shop to bring me my clothes at the hotel even though I declined to do so. Very poor service I will never come back to this hotel.

5.5 years old boy in women spa watching women without clothing
They boy starred at women and playing here and there. It's not respect women.
Though it's the Japan law to allow 6 years old kid to follow parent of opposite sex, it brings people discomfort, angry, embrassment, humiliations . Don't forget hotel serves lots of foreigners. They should be more world-oriented. Hotel/Japan just cares about children, how about humans (men/ women)
I advised their family to take him away asap, but they still very proud to claim their boy only 5.5 years old.
It's ridiculous and barbarian.

The hotel is very well located, close to some main attractions and subway lines. The staff is kind, the rooms are clean, and the building is new. The restaurant on the ground floor is convenient, but it’s closed Monday evenings. Highly recommended

Good size room, large bed, convenient location which is close to public transport and is a walking distance from a lot of places of interest. Was a very comfortable stay and there is a famous food market nearby. Easy automated check out and convenient laundry room for those who need it.

The hotel is modern and immaculately clean. The room I had was was just right in size and quite modern- a double bed, recessed lighting, USB plugs next to your bed, a little side couch, desk, pajamas everyday, slippers, and a full on body jet shower! Housekeeping cleaned everyday and if you needed an iron, it was stationed near the elevators. There was an onsen and laundry on the premises and you could check it out from your TV if it was occupied.

As for the breakfast, it is a buffet but it was not to my liking. It was located at the attached Italian restaurant. It was there twist of a western breakfast but it was more like an abundance of carbs, not that great “breakfast” pizza, pasta, a lunch dish, prosciutto, and a salad bar. I don’t really want to eat a salad during breakfast!

As for location, it is a distance from tourist sites. You do have to walk to the subway stations or the bus in order to get to the places. I underestimated the distances on the map. If you do take your luggage from Kyoto Station on the train, be ready to lug it up the stair; no elevators...

This hotel was beautiful and immaculate! Bigger than lots of hotels in Tokyo/Osaka. Still small but huge so comfy bed! Air con was fabulous and block out curtains. Super quiet too - Feel like no one else was staying on our floor. So so clean, modern bathrooms really lovely! Staff were super friendly. Pretty good locations for trains and walking distance to Kyoto Tower/Kyoto station. Would highly recommend!
