I stayed at this hotel with my wife. It was a nice hotel with facilities like gym and lounge space. The room was also designed nicely, however, please be aware that you have to bring amenities like toothbrush and toothpaste by your own self as they have eco-friendly system. Breakfast is also really nice and simple. The only thing I didn't like was that the window was frosted.

Location of the hotel was good. Wine, sake, detox water, coffee, tea were all free at Lobby space. Room was clean and wide. Japanese breakfast of Kyoto style was fantastic. Tounyu Yudofu was better than other Yodofu restaurant in Kyoto. 古民家でいただく朝食の豆乳の湯豆腐は、他の湯豆腐専門店より素晴らしく、焼いたシャケもとても美味しい。宿泊料金が、何倍も高い他のホテルに泊まる理由がなくなってしまいます。

The check-in took a while, but was detailed and polite. The room had a modern japanese design, which I enjoyed during my stay. As I usually don‘t have breakfast, I can‘t tell anything about this. I can recommend this hotel, which is located in a very quiet area in Kyoto.

This is a lovely hotel with a peaceful charm and very friendly staff. We had complimentary breakfast provided and drinks at 5pm which was a lovely touch. Ideally located close to several train stations for sight seeing and a short walk to Gion and restuarants. Highly recommended.

What an amazing experience, from the staff, check-in process, to them accomodating an extra late check out, and walking us out of property waiting for our taxi to show up and waving us good-bye from the front walk way, wow! How about that Japanese hospitality!!

The best word to describe this hotel is 'Zen'. We wanted to stay in a place with great Japanese traditional style yet modern and this one checked all the boxes. They have a yoga room with yoga classes and Zen meditation on the schedule, a traditional Japanese tea area that is also on the schedule for those who would like to participate in that, a Zen garden, plus the lighting throughout the hotel is muted and very calming and of course very Zen.

The rooms while slightly larger than your typical Japanese hotel room were still a tad bit small it still fit our two large suitcases with plenty room left to manoeuvre, very functional, very clean, with a vanity outside the actual bathroom which we liked a lot.

There's complimentary breakfast in the morning and Japanese snacks and tea throughout the day. We opted for breakfast at the Enzo Ango Tomi - wow wow wow !!! I can't say enough good things, one of the best fresh and varied buffet breakfasts without overdoing it that I've had at a hotel. Also there are complimentary bicycles to help explore the Shimogyo district. For the understated luxury, service and amenities at this hotel group I must say we got at steal at the price when we booked. They still seem to still have great deals on prices so if you were thinking of a hotel in Kyoto stop now, just book one of their hotels, each comes with a different concept and hence experience. I strongly recommend this hotel group.

The only gripe which is neither here nor there would be, their taxi contracting service company left much to be desired. The driver showed up and was rude to us, he immediately started complaining about the size of our luggage and kept muttering and heaving sighs and showing obvious disdainful expressions throughout the drive to Kyoto station. We had travelled successfully for almost 2 weeks through several regions with no issues in taxis and didn't quite get why he would first throw our luggage carelessly into the trunk and comment that " his car is fragile".

I do hope that the sale of the original concept to new owners will not affect the way this unique hotel is run. They operate as a dispersed hotel, with sister buildings scattered within yards of each other all neatly tucked in a neighborhood that we found so fascinating because you get to see daily Kyoto life going on, as you stroll past the streets to get to either of the 2 subway stations ( about 5 minute walk) or to the popular Gion tourist and shopping district which is a short 10-15 minute walk.

An amazing stay, a beautifully done concept, great purposeful amenities, excellent hospitality, luxury without going over the top. Well done Enzo Fuya II and the rest of the hotel group!!!

Hotel was recommended by my travel agent which I felt was a disappointment, taking into consideration what we had to pay (nearly HK$4,000 per night as it is the autumn leaves season). It is located in a very narrow street and for two times, the taxi driver/s missed the location. One can walk over to districts like Shijo...but if you need to go elsewhere, hotel will have to hail a cab for you. The hotel is clean and tidy with a modern touch, but there are absolutely no amenities. We asked for toothbrush and toothpaste and you will only get it when you ask at the desk. Body lotion, no. Laundry bags, no. Instead they gave me a garbage bag for dirty laundry. And of course one will have to walk over to another location for breakfast. Attitude of their staff was good, but they are not too knowledgeable. One can't seem to get a straight answer for anything. To me, I felt like we were in an AirBNB hotel and not a luxury hotel as they claim themselves to be. Another incident was - my friend had a bad fall almost in front of the hotel on our first evening there (the tiny road outside was rough and dark) and she was bleeding quite badly. No one was at the reception and it took almost 7-8 minutes for someone to show up even after our repeated bell ringing. It was definitely not a very good experience. (

Modern, minimalistic hotel. It may not have the all the bell and whistles but it’s what we need for 2 nights stay. Complementary breakfast and sake tasting in the afternoon. Near Gion, Nishiki market and transportations. Very convenient.

Our family traveled to Kyoto in August when it was scorching hot this summer. Enso Ango Fuya II was a wonderful surprise, excellent service and accommodations hidden behind a simple facade that blended into it surroundings. Entering Enso Ango Fuya II, you're met with a wonderful surprise, beautiful setting and welcoming staff. What a nice way to enjoy Kyoto knowing your return to the hotel will be met with a nice lounge stocked with beverages, snacks, wine and sake in the evening. Breakfast is excellent, choose either the continental like breakfast in the lounge or go to the Spanish cuisine or Japanese traditional breakfast at its sibling facility nearby. We definitely would be back next time in Kyoto. Love the PJs too,.

Pros: perfect location, Beautiful architecture, smiling friendly staff. Rooms are great design- bathrooms are superb . Nice beautiful lounge with access to tea and ice water at all times. You can borrow bikes. Nice fitness room. The small breakfast free of extra charge is fine.

Cons:
#1 The huge issue for me which will make me choose a different hotel next time: The room has a very big window. However there is some kind of film on the window. You can’t see through, you can’t even determine whether it is rain or sunshine. It’s just “white” The room feels like a prison. I don’t understand why, curtains would do better. Everyone could choose for themselves - tried to ask staff why, but due to lack of English, they didn’t understand
#2. Most of staff can’t communicate in English. I would have loved some help, but couldn’t communicate
#3 Perfect that the hotel has bikes you can borrow. Thanks for that. Too bad the staff didn’t tell us. We only found out from other guests the last day.
# Thank you for offering bottles of water. But there is no need to fly water in from France. Japan water is fine ( #climatechange)

Yes. The continental breakfast is included (no charge) and it was fine for our purposes... coffee, juice, toast, jam, cereal, eggs, etc. The breakfast that you pay for is a full breakfast, but located at a sister property a few blocks away (I recommend sticking to the continental breakfast onsite).
