Tiny little charming place. An old japanese household with all the charm of old but adapted to modern needs with a must needed air conditioner and internet in the room. The place is a 5 min walk from the imperial grounds and the townhall where you can access metro, and 7 min walk from the main commercial districts in kyoto.... More

Stayed 4 nights here. Train stations are 10-15mins away. We got lost on our way there. No reception on our mobile phones too. Luckily a helpful Japanese lady helped us with her smartphone. Place is within walking distance to many tourist places. 4 sets pf bicycles are available. Many shopping and eateries along the way. The house is located at... More

Just coming to the end of our stay here and don't want to leave. Lovely traditional home in a quiet residential area. Keiko is really helpful and gave us directions to local amenities. She doesn't live in the property but is easily contactable by phone or email if necessary. Futon is incredibly cosy and warm and the Japanese style bath... More

Very convinient spot, aoit 10min away from public transit. The neighborhood is really nice as well, walking at night doesn't feel scary at all! Host is very friendly and very understanding even though we got there late! She even helped us get a cab when leaving.

We spent 3 nights at Keiko's house in Kyoto and we absolutely loved it. If you want to stay in an old Japanese house and sleep on tatami mats, have a traditional Japanese bath, a small garden courtyard, and feel like you are staying in a museum, then this is the place for you. Keiko is very friendly and helpful.... More

We enjoyed Keiko and will recommend it to friends. The authentic olden Japanese home is a perfect departure from cookie cutter hotel rooms and will stay in our memories much longer. The location is excellent and nestled in a cute neighborhood with shops and antique stores and within walking distance to the shopping arcades. We walked everywhere and loved it.... More

Very nice experience: small paper house, Japanese style, with futon. Small cute bathroom, small kitchen. Very kind and helpful host. Close to the center and shops. Bikes are provided for free. It is a bit hard to find so follow the instructions on the website.

Stayed here for 5 nights and because we were the only guests in the house during that time, we had the whole house to ourselves. The house is of a traditional design so you enjoy the tatami and futon experience at a very affordable price. The house is also pretty spacious with enough heaters around in case you are afraid... My sister, niece and myself stayed here for four nights during October. We had the whole place to ourselves which was amazing. Keiko was very helpful with lots of suggestions for things to do in the neighbourhood, including coffee a couple of doors down. The B&B is well situated, in easy walking distance of the centre of town. This is... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
