We had a wonderfull stay at this beautifull hotel during sakura season in Kyoto. Everything from the decor and architecture, to the food, rooms, amenities and last but not least the staff was amazing. The service at this hotel is top notch. Very proffesional both in western and japanese standard - the staff did everything they could to help you and make you feel appreciated. As there was a lot of tourists during our stay in Kyoto we had trouble booking restaurants and when we asked the hotel for help they booked three amazing dinners for us. Really cant say enough how good the service is.

The breakfest was amazing as everything else. In the afternoon they had free flow of sparkling wine in the lounge were they also had a small menu with great food. The rooms were big and elegant and the location made it possible to have a morning jog through philosophers path which was a magical experience during sakura season. Its also walking distance to a lot of temples and sightseeing spots in Kyoto, we rented a bike that was parked safely in the hotel and brought to us by the staff every morning.

We will definitly come back to this hotel the next time we visit Kyoto and will recommend it to everyone.

We had a fabulous stay at this hotel. The room was beautiful and comfortable, the hotel was very well situated in an area surrounded by ancient temples and the breakfast was amazing. Best of all was the staff. The service was warm and friendly and always went beyond the call of duty. Enjoy this wonderful place.

From the moment we arrived by taxi, we were treated like royalty. Check-in involved being seated on a sofa, being presented with hot towels, tea and a small cracker. We were then escorted to our room where our luggage was already waiting for us. The rooms were beautifully appointed and quiet, despite facing a main street. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and courteous at every turn. Breakfast was quite a treat and you order from a menu. The location is within walking distance to the University and a shrine plus many restaurants. Do bring your own entertainment because the TV is mostly Japanese language, even on channels like CNN. We absolutely recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again and again whenever we happen to be in Kyoto.

Okura opened a new hotel in Kyoto Okazaki Bettei. No tourist crush here, and very quiet. Next to a temple (view of it from rooms in the back). Staff were excellent. Food excellent. Room was quite good as well. What you expect of Japanese hospitality.
No parking at this hotel, but there are places you can park. We took a taxi there. We took taxis/buses to where we wanted to go.
Bus 204 conveniently stops right at front. The concierge will call taxis for you which show up within minutes. (Depending on where you are going, either works great).... Some Kyoto buses run in loops (one way I think, so make sure you know where and how you are getting there).
Room is nice enough to enjoy if you just hung around in the hotel, with a nice restaurant (French) downstairs. (I personally prefer non-French cuisine, especially when hanging around in Japan, but Japanese really like French cuisine, so I understand). For good Wa-style food, just take a walk, or bus or taxi, there are plenty in Kyoto.

The next villa of Hotel Okura is a small luxury hotel.
Of course, the French cuisine that bears the name of the epoch that Okura is proud of is wonderful.
You will be able to spend your time in a way that is unique to Kyoto, where there are many temples and shrines, and enjoy an extraordinary experience.
Especially in Kyoto, where there are many French dishes, you can enjoy excellent cuisine.
On this day, I enjoyed French cuisine unique to Hotel Okura to my heart's content while drinking champagne.

I’m very sad to have to write a bad review. I’m a very big fan of the Okura branch, in Bangkok is my second home, I whent to the Heritage Okura at Tokio and so I decided to try this boutique Okura in Kyoto, we had make reservation for 3 nights, but as we had a room on the road side and the 2 nd floor we couldn’t sleep because the noise, so I gave to pack and go to other hotel.
So! Is impossible for me to say good of my experience here.
The breakfast is just not my type of joy, I can’t choose what I want, only a small not enough menu a la Carte with many extra payment. I’m very difficult for eat and on this menu nothing good for my taste, I like gluten free breads, soy yogurt, I like to choose what fruit I prefer.
Is a shame, I think if they put double glass in the windows, problem solved.
I give 5 stars for the complementary happy our.

The fitness center is a joke .

Just checked in to this new, elegant hotel. I get that they want to make guests feel relaxed and honoured. But the checkin process is jus too long, too belaboured and the handheld card machine could not work to take a deposit on my credit card. I then had to go to the desk to sort it out. A half hour to check in when there was no queue and no other guest! Preposterous! I accept that I should appreciate the politeness and courtesy, but all I wanted after a full day of traveling was to get to my room and use the loo. This hotel needs to understand that. It is very simple. Love the niceties but don’t keep the guest from getting some rest!

Okura Bettei is a small luxury hotel with modern esthetics located on temple grounds (Okazaki Betsuin Temple). North view rooms also benefit from the stunning Konkai-Komyoji temple views and Zen garden. Our rooms were very spacious and beautifully decorated in harmony with the surrounding landscape. There’s an intimate but excellent restaurant and bar. We traveled with our daughter with severe food allergy and everyone was extremely attentive to her needs. Bus stop in front of the hotel. Uber taxi easily available to eat out or visit Fujimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji. An ideal location for exploring many temples on foot like Jisho-ji (silver pavillon), Zenri-ji, Heian-jingu grand Torii, Philosophers path ..
All respect for the general manager Mr Tatsuya Shinkawa and all of his staff who do a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality! We will come back.

The Okura Okazaki Bettie is a beautifully designed modern hotel and was the perfect choice for our combined business/leisure visit to Kyoto. The location was reasonably close (short taxi ride) to excellent restaurants and sights in the culturally historic area east of the river.
The guest room quality, cleanliness and comfort is excellent - finished to a high standard with large windows overlooking the garden below and temples beyond. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the hotel's own zen garden. The choice of either "Kyoto"or "American" breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented bento style, exceptionally fresh, plentiful and delicious. Indeed this was one of the best hotel breakfasts ever.
Finally the service level is exceptional. Both management and staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Neither the most nor least expensive option in Kyoto - just simple great value. We look forward to returning next time.
