Currently prices are quite reasonable for decent-sized rooms. Including breakfast and lounge access is worthwhile, although on Saturday the lounge filled up and it was a 90 minute wait to get in. Location is near a station on the northern edge of the city, meaning most places are not a short walk, but transport can get you there. Nice fitness area. No hot springs though. Free parking, but driving through city takes ages. A car makes sense if you are heading north though.

This hotel is definitely geared more towards business travelers and conferences, and not leisure travelers. The location is very inconvenient as it’s about a 30-45 minute train ride to any of the main attractions in Kyoto. Also, the train itself is a 10-15 minute walk. I found this hotel to be very out of the way. The room was large, but with a very dated interior that felt sterile and lifeless. The staff was friendly enough but not overly helpful and service was very slow on both check in and check out. The bed was sunken in and sheets were scratchy. Everything was clean and the room was quiet at night. Overall a decent stay but nothing fantastic.

Thank you for your recent stay at The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike. Although our hotel is located in the city of Kyoto, the surrounding area is rich in nature and very quiet. There is also a bus service from the nearest bus terminal that runs near Ginkakuji Temple and Nanzenji Temple, which are major sightseeing spots in Kyoto. However, we are very sorry that you were not satisfied with our services, even though you came all the way here. Thank you again for your comment, and we hope one day you choose to stay with us again.

If you want quiet and peace, this is a good 5 star hotel to stay. Very reasonable price for a 5 star hotel. Near the metro rail system as well - walking distance. There not much eating establishments near though. You may have to walk a few meters to find a good place to eat with very reasonable price.

This is my 4th visit to the hotel and people ask me why you always chose Prince hotel in Kyoto always so my answer is just smile its the prefect use of my money. Customers service is best and great communications on Marriott app.

As a Titanium members they always trying to upgrade you to suite room, even I went in high session after 3 days they are full booked but they arranged the upgrade to me thank you ...

Their lounge has best collection of food specially on tea time and dinner alcohol menu is great.

Breakfast buffet provide full day energy.. Over all great value of your money highly recommend.

Nice hotel located in a serene and peaceful suburb in the north of Kyoto. Hotel is easily accessible from the subway, about a 5 minute walk from the Kokusai Kaikan exit of the Karasuma line. Hotel is a bit dated but has been maintained well. My reservation has made by a travel agent and thus, per Marriott policy, hotels do not reward members with Bonvoy benefits such as lounge access or upgrades. After some back and forth with hotel staff, they were very generous in allowing me access to the executive lounge. Lounge is very nice, with a large window overlooking a Japanese garden, breakfast was Japanese with some western options.

Hotel is worthy of staying if you are looking to get away but is a bit far out, if you are looking for more action and accessibility to the city, stay in town.

Thank you very much for using The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike. Surrounded by the rich nature of Rakuhoku, Kyoto, our hotel is located in a very quiet environment. It is about 5 minutes on foot to the nearest terminal. Buses to Ohara Sanzenin Temple, Ginkakuji Temple, and Heian Jingu Shrine also depart from the terminal, making it very convenient for sightseeing in Kyoto. There is a Japanese garden and a waterfall outside the large window in front of the club lounge. Autumn is coming, and the trees around our hotel will be dyed red. Depending on the season, the nature around the hotel also gets a new look. We are looking forward to seeing you again.

Located in highly green area of Kyoto it is a big circular building with an impressive drive in. Very spacious lobby and smooth CheckIn. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Some overlook Kyoto city and some the well laid out garden. Many restaurants including Japanese Chinese MultiCuisine Bar and Coffee shop. We had lunch breakfast dinner in different ones. Wide choice of food drinks very efficient service and helpful staff. A bonfire is arranged in the inner lawn in the evening with a sit out. Very enjoyable. Plenty to see within the hotel including a Japanese style garden a little pond with fishes and a small shop selling chocolates and souvenirs. Staff is very efficient courteous and some of them speak English. Transport is readily available to visit various temples for which Kyoto is famous. Including the Gold Kinkaku Ji. Overall a memorable stay in this Autograph Collection hotel of Marriott group.

This hotel is away from all congestion of the city. A very relaxing atmosphere. The staff were always ready to help. The in room body massage was excellent. The bathroom needs to have modern fixtures. The restaurant choices should be more. Overall a very pleasant stay. I recommend this place.

We booked an airconditioned room (is there another kind?) at this supposedly "best and most expensive hotel" in the area. So disappointed. Terrible service, dirty carpets, dated décor.
The temperature of the thermostat was set at 25 C and they refused to put on the airconditioning. Additionally they lied. They said that in April/May there was no Airconditioning in Japan!! We subsequently went to Tokyo where we had an airconditioned room They suggested that we keep our windows open. I have traveled the world and never been confronted by a similar situation where a hotel is trying to save money sacrificing the customers most basic comfort.

Went along with my husband to a medical conference and the Grand Prince is a very short walk to the conference center. Pros....Hotel is very clean and rooms are bigger than expected. Short walk to the subway and conference center.
Cons....No spa or work out facilities. Isolated location from just about everything. Rug throughout hotel is heavily patterned and needs updated. A bit of a musty smell throughout the halls and rooms. Park is not that close and weather did not allow for being outdoors anyway. Food is expensive and options are limited. Breakfast buffet was $28 per person and food was just okay. Day to day there were no changes in food choices and you had to ask for" al la carte" since the menus only show "pre set" expensive course menus. With a full hotel of American visitors it was difficult to get assistance in English. Everything closes at 11 P.M. One bar located in the hotel smelled heavily of smoke. Only sitting area is directly in front of the hotel desk. Outdoor circular courtyard is fine, but reminded me of a nursing home setting more than a hotel. In the 5 days at the hotel, never saw a person access the courtyard. Would not stay here again.

I spent 7 nights at this hotel at a recent trip to Kyoto. At first, I was skeptical to the hotel's location. It is located right next to the international conference center, but quite far from the center of Kyoto. However, after just 24 hours, I realized that it was perfect for me in every respect. First, it is extremely close to the conference center (the purpose of my trip was a conference at the center). Second, there was a subway station within 2 minutes of the hotel, so access to town was also great.
The hotel itself is great with friendly and helpful staff. The restaurants close rather early, but there are several places in the neighborhood where one can get something to eat.
The rooms at the Grand Prince are much bigger than at most hotels in Kyoto and the main reason for my 5-star rating. I would like to particularly emphasize 4 things that were especially good about them: 1) they are very well sound-proofed; 2) the curtains make them completely dark; 3) the A/C makes no noise at all and don't blow; 4) the water pressure in the shower is excellent and there are separate faucets for cold and warm. These 4 things are all important and something that most hotels don't have. I would stay at the Grand Prince in the future just to get a room like that.

Hello. I am an employee of Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto. There is no gym in the hotel. There is KONAMI SPORTS CLUB in Kitaooji station building. You can go by taxi in 15 minutes or by subway. We do not have contract with the KOMAMI SPORTS CLUB but everyone can use it at 1,512 yen per time. We are looking forward to seeing you. Kaori Miki, Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto
