Nice location in just minutes to kyoto station and adjoining shopping centres. Not so good experience with bellboy waiting for tips. I don't remember Japanese services need tipping. After giving 500 yen for three luggages, a bad expression from bellboy makes us wonder the hotel service. The room with average size and everything is nice. But we may not choose...

We had booked 2 rooms during our stay. 1 Full & 1 Triple. Pros: Beds were comfy, pillows decent, bathroom (typically small), room decent size for Kyoto. Housekeeping staff were always cheerful. Bell staff (women), concierge, & doormen were very friendly and went out of their way to communicate and be helpful. This was greatly appreciated since we were not...

Great location, walking distance to JR Station and also to AEON Mall. A very helpful Concierge as well. Room was clean and nice, big as well. Will come back to New Miyako to stay. Staff have a very good command of English.

Right next to the Kyoto station, plenty of taxis outside, many tours stop/set down at this hotel. Staff have a very good command of English, and work to a very high standard. They are used to dealing with Westerners. The hotel offers a wide selection of restaurants, but we went for all-you-can-eat evening buffet. It was simply amazing. Huge selection...

Great location. Directly opposite the train station. Perfect base for exploring. Room was clean bathroom small. Had to open the window as it was too hot and stuffy. Service was quick and efficient. Check in was uneventful

Excellent location for Kyoto sight seeing. Across from central bus station for all the different sight seeing routed. Lots of eating places in the train station across street. On-site Japanese restaurant provides traditional Kyoto food :-)

KYOTO, the city I loved for it's traditional perseverance and the culture. Miyako hotel was one of the few modern buildings in the city. The thinks I liked about the hotel- 1. Foreigner friendly. the staff was well versed with the language and the room menu had western choices. 2. Good room size (in comparison with other hotels in Japan....

We chose this hotel because we stayed in Kyoto for a few nights in order to visit other places as Hiroshima, Nara, Osaka, so it was crucial for us to sleep near the train station. Location was perfect. Nice staff. Hotel is not new, but big, clean and comfortable rooms. Though food is very expensive at the hotel, avoid it,...

What disturbed us most was the mould in the corridor and in our room. Breakfast was very expensive and not tasty. It is better to get outside and find some breakfast at the railway station which is very close by.

Position position position, straight over from the railway station and bus stops. Feed by taxis and the most helpful doorman ever. Large very good rooms, serviced to a level you get to choose pending your thoughts on the environment. Buffet breakfast was okay but not the best we have had in Japan. Otherwise unfaultable.

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
