Located just across the road from the train station, this hotel was not chosen by us but by our tour group. The only thing I would say about this hotel is that its a little bit above the class of what we would normally choose, however it was excellent none the less. Very nice rooms, helpful staff especially the concierge...

Recently spent 4 nights with friend. Location is great as it's next to main train station and subway, and pickup for day trips. The bell captain was fantastic help as we organised for our luggage to be forwarded on to Tokyo motel while we did 3 day Nasendo trail. Room in south wing comfortable size.

Stayed two nights here in the first week of November. Location is great, just across the train station with lots of restaurants, shopping etc. Room is spacious, clean with good amenities and comfortable bed. It is value for money as Japan's hotels are well known for being pricey and small. A special thank you to the doorman, Yamaguchi, who is...

I really think we lucked out with our choice of hotel stats in Kyoto. The hotel was so convenient for all that we wanted to see and do in Kyoto. The staff was friendly and helpful for all our requests. We only used the hotel for sleeping so I can't speak for any ong the amenities. The room was clean...

This place has a homey feel which many hotels in Japan lack. The location is very central. The room was well appointed and comfortable and it was nice to be able to open the window/door onto the shared balcony (only openable a certain distance so that you can't actually go out.) The surrounding neighbourhoods are well worth exploring for an...

I had the pleasure of visiting Kyoto at the end of October and stayed here with friends. Arrived to Kyoto via the bullet train and was pleasantly surprised to find out that my hotel was directly across from the station. This made it very easy to branch out from here. There is a bus station here as well, in addition...

This hotel was very handy to the Kyoto Train Station....if you find the Ibis across the road...just go to the right of it...and the hotel is along the road about 100 meters... We were a little early to check in so spent a couple of hours walking around the train station....and the HUGE shopping centre to the right of the...

Recently stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Finding the hotel on arriving at Kyoto Station was a bit of a challenge. Especially with having to lug around luggages and arriving in the late afternoon. This hotel is not actually directly accross the station. you have to turn right as you exit out of the Hajiro West Exit and walk about...

If you plan to embark on day tours offered by Japanican, New Miyako Hotel is the place to stay. It is the central pick-up location, and that could save some hassle in the morning. Even on your own, the location is just perfect - directly opposite Kyoto Station.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Terrific location opposite the Kyoto rail station. This area has lots of shops and cafés. There was also a large shopping centre in a street on the left of the hotel and a coin laundromat at the end of the street to the right of the hotel. Room is very clean, quite spacious...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
