Motonago hospitality With Kyoto flavor a homy feeling. Motonago nestles in a quiet, nostalgic scene, completely apart from the hustle and bustle of the city. Once you step outside, you can sense the overflowing taste of Kyoto - Japan's old capital. All the charm of Kyoto is gathered here, where Motonago stands. On entering through a door with a tiled roof while seeing a tasteful earthen wall made using traditional techniques, Motonago welcomes you with a warm hospitality that only a humble inn like ours, with its 11 rooms, can offer. Guests can relax while enjoying dinner and breakfast in their rooms, and our staff wear traditional kimonos as they serve the meals. Kyoto style cuisine made with special seasonal ingredients succeeds in bringing the Kyoto taste, with our chefs' sophisticated skills and selected menu, to our guests.

This was my second visit to Motonago and I have recommended this beautiful property to many others, that's how much I loved it. To truly experience Motonago, book the full board, dinner, and breakfast, preferably for two nights, then once you've done your days sightseeing, as

We stayed 3 nights here in January during a two week trip in Japan. I wish we could have stayed another week! As soon as you enter, you are greeted warmly, your shoes and luggage re taken, you're given slippers, and escorted to your room. When you enter these rooms, it's like

Everything as expected, great service, and the food is delicious. You can reserve the common bathroom and have it for yourself which is great. The location is perfect. It is expensive for what it offers in my opinion but It is the average price for that kind of Ryokan, so I was

We were there with our boys 17 and 14 and it was an experience certainly out of their comfort level. The food at the dinner, fine dining 2 hr meal with all raw fish. They did it but that was different for them. The people were so sweet and nice but English just so-so. Beds as

I will never forget the nights we spent at Motonago. The service and care was second to none, and our room was a wonderfully unique blend of tradition and comfort. I found myself looking forward to getting back there after our daily activities (where there would likely be tea

There are communal bathrooms, but we had a semi-private bathroom that seemed to be shared only between the 2 rooms that we occupied. We didn't come across any other guests and were only aware that other guests were there by the signs indicating that the private baths were booked for times other than ours.
