Excellent location opposite train station. The staff are really friendly. Rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent with a large choice. The hotel also offers a restaurant and access to the viewing tower and bar with a discount for hotel guests. An excellent hotel from which to visit Kyoto.

On my first trip to Japan and the first Japanese hotel stayed in I have say these guys did not put a foot wrong in the 4 days I was with them. The location is great for travelling around the city and rail travel to the rest of Japan. The rooms a bit small but that's ttypical in Japan and...

apart from the biggest double room we had in japan, the big plus with this hotel is the location: right opposite the station...add a decent food hall in the basement that is reasonably priced and buzzing from mid-morning, and this place is an excellent base to explore the city and surrounds, the business about dropping your key off at reception...

The hotel is very close to train stations that had various lines and even shinkansen. The bus station nearby offers many bus lines to tourist attractions too. There are malls and restaurants nearby as well. The hotel room and its toilet is rather small, and the bed is too soft and we can feel the springs in it. The hotel...

Stayed here for two nights and the hotel room we got was facing Kyoto station. Beautiful views of the station and the location is so convenient that all the buses are just outside the hotel. Lower levels of hotel has got numerous food stores. Hotel also offers a discount to visit Kyoto tower part of the stay. Good rooms and...

We stayed at this hotel in April 2017 for several nights. Location was very central. Only a short walk from trains and busses. Also very close to restaurants. We booked a bed and breakfast package. We thought breakfast was ok. Breakfast was served until 10am daily which is fine, however we were asked to leave the restaurant at 10am by...

We choose the hotel due to the closeness of the train station for a 3 night stay. We had a room on the 7th floor which was very tiny (no where to leave bags) and with the requirement to leave keys at the front desk, it turned out to be a bit awkward. We had three beds in the room,...

We stayed here for 3 nights to give us time to explore Kyoto & Osaka. The hotel is directly opposite Kyoto train and bus station and below Kyoto tower. Reception is on the 8th floor, the staff were friendly, efficient & spoke good English which helped us! We were located on the 8th floor overlooking the station in a deluxe...

We booked for 4 people and got a massive bedroom that can fit 7 !! Its on level 5, basicly a two room combined, with a modern style Japanese sliding door. Very conveniently located, just opposite JR Station, and opposite bus terminal. This hotel is just 10 mins walk from Shinkansen platform. This is how close it is, one time...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
