The only reason that you would pick this hotel to stay in is for the location. Literally 3 min walk from the Kyoto station. Otherwise the room was small, the washroom smells and it isn't the greatest, though their staff are quite friendly (typical Japanese).

As others have mentioned, the experience here is mixed. Stay for the location and price, but don't expect a lot out of the room. The staff were all very kind and courteous, and helped us with whatever we needed. They do however only give you one room key, and one of the weirder things they require is for you to... More

As previous commentators have noted, the hotel is in a convenient location near the Kyoto train station and bus terminal. BUT - Our supposed triple room (two twin beds and a convertible sofa) was tiny and cluttered with outdated furniture. The desk was inches from the end of the beds, and the desk chair could only be used by someone... More

This is my 3rd time visiting Kyoto and we have learned using the city bus pass to visit all temples is the best way for us. The Kyoto Tower hotel Annex is only 5 mins away from Kyoto bus terminal. The place is not far from the station. It is quite convenient to travel around. The room was not new yet comfortable. There were restaurants and mini marts nearby. If you are looking for a place to stay and spend an entire day exploring Kyoto or Nara, this could be your best choice.

Despite the hotel building is quite old. But clean and comfy enough to stay overnight. We booked rooms for 4 persons. 2 normal bed and 1 sofabed and 1 extrabed. The room is spacious enough. The bathroom is ok and clean. Good value for money.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
