We stayed here for two nights towards the end of October. In general, the hotel reminded me of a Hyatt which hadn't been done up since the 80s. It had all of the amenities you would expect of a decent business hotel but it just all seemed slightly dated. However, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom a good size...

It was a little bit away from the main Kyoto station, so you have to take a local line from Kyoto station to get to the nearest station to the hotel, but that also meant it was out of the way and in a quiet place. The rooms are decently sized with a small bathroom. They also have Wi-Fi. However,...

Rooms were extremely large, beds were super comfortable, bathroom was a good size and the hotel was in a great location. Was able to walk to the food markets and the geisha district. Was a short walk to the train station from which we were able to travel to a lot of the main attractions (those which you could get...

a good location where all rooms were a good size however they all had an overpowering smell of tobacco so rooms need to be aired pre occupation. This was the only hotel we stayed in Japan where they didn't have a no smoking policy. You cant get the smell out of the furniture and spoilt it a bit. Close to...

Despite making clear specifications when I made the booking we were not asked and were issued rooms on the smoking floor. My room did not smell too bad but our travelling companions in the other 2 rooms have to make a switch, as theirs stinks. Hotel conveniently situated near a Subway station.

Only about 30seconds walk from Karasuma Oike subway station,or a bus station, and about 15seconds from Seven-Eleven store. This nice and clean hotel is comfortable enough to make your stay in Kyoto a very convenient and a great one. If your stay includes breakfast, you've got to try the Japanaese style breakfast provided at the restaurant "Hamatoku" in the second floor....

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
