You cannot get a better location! It was easy to travel to via subway after arriving at the main train station in Kyoto. Staff were very friendly and accommodating being able to advise on the great street nearby with excellent food (pontocho) and the price paid for the room was very reasonable. The room was clean and tidy, small but...

This hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance of the metro and restaurants and bars for lively nightlife. Room was clean, a decent size and had everything we needed. Staff were helpful and stored our suitcases while we explored. Very good, would recommend.

Great stay for two nights. Near many of the shrines. Breakfast was good with both Japanese and western options. Bed was comfy, and nice and big. Staff spoke good English. No safe, so may want a lockable suitcase for valuables. Overall happy with the choice.

Great location - close to attractions, subway, convenient stores and shopping spots. Room is clean, though a little small. But for the price you pay, it is well worth it. Some rooms have views of the mountain and city.

Located near subway exit, not too far from major tourist sights--Kiyomizudera, for example--in Higashiyama area. Room was spacious, but not cleaned very thoroughly. Also, if the reservation was not made early enough, it is a rather pricey hotel.

Room was quite big related to Kyoto hotels. We choose a twin room, it's big enough if you ever stay in Kyoto. Location is good, the commercial zone is close, there is even a supermarket in south-east direction in 400 meters. we even go to Kiyomizu-dera and Jishō-Ji by walk from hotel for street view! Also Ichizawa Shinzaburo Hanpu is...

Very close proximity to all we wanted to see. Ease of shopping and large variety of eateries nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived early to check in and they kindly had a very good system to tag and keep our bags for us while we discovered what was available in the immediate area.

Stayed here to be closer to the river, to see Kanikakuni ritual the next morning. The Hotel is a short walk from the subway station, and the main commercial area. The rooms were nice and new. Staffs were friendly and helpful! We'll definitely return here for our next Kyoto stay!

Very comfortable hotel in a convenient location 5 mins walk from Sanjo Station but not really in the best area. 2 convenience stores next door. Bus terminal next to subway. Also the main river is next to the station. Room is a good size with twin beds. Bathroom a little tight. Bed and pillows comfy. Best sleep we had in...

A simple, clean hotel. Room was quite big compared to the usual Japanes rooms. We chose a twin room and beds were large and comfortable. Price very good. Western breakfast was basic but with all you need (and with a good Italian coffee machine!).

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
