We had a great stay at the Nishiyama Ryoken. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was included in our booking and we chose the Japanese style option, it was delicious and a very cool experience. We participated in the ikebana (flower arranging) activity during our stay which was a lot of fun. There’s also a public bath available which we took full advantage of and was a great way to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. Overall would definitely recommend if your interested in a relaxing, traditional Japanese stay.

Our experience at the Nishiyama Ryokan was no short of a spiritual awakening. There's something about taking a bath in the heart of cultural Japan while overlooking the peaceful garden that's been meticulously taken care of. Me and my wife stayed here two weeks ago and both of us enjoyed our stay in this ryokan, the lady and her husband were very friendly and the room is beautiful and comfy, we suggest to change the papers with information thay they leave in the room for something with better presentation.

Staff were amazing. Helping us out in any situation. Tea ceremony in the morning was lovely. Bath house was clean and laid out nicely. Very quite and peaceful. Walking distance to imperial palace and Nishiki Market, but also great location to get to subway/train station to see all the other attractions of Kyoto. Bed and pillow were fine and plenty of hot water. Free Coffee downstairs and tea in the room. Would love to stay here again.

Hospitality in Japan is well known, and was confirmed here in Nishiyama Ryokan. We were warmly welcomed with all necessary attention. The room is traditional and comfortable! Japanese atmosphere was exactly as expected. We were served traditional Japanese breakfast which was very good. There is the possibility for a continental breakfast though. The place is easily accessible by bus from the train station. We had the chance to learn traditional tea ceremony with the owner. Place that I'd certainly recommend.

Excellent service and warm hospitality from the hosts! Great for families, the ryokan is situated near many popular tourists spots and public transit options, yet its location on a quiet street makes our experience very peaceful and tranquil. The room and public bath are spotless and well-maintained. You will have a very comfortable stay at this ryokan! One thing to note - they suspended their kaiseki dinner service for the time being, so this means you will have to find restaurants in the evening. Dining options can be limited in the area if you don't make dinner reservations in advance, or be prepared to wait in line for popular restaurants during busy weekends.

Beuatifull traditional and clean Room. Really friendly and helpfull Staff. I enjoyed the public Bath and the Lobby Events. Every morning they also hold a short Tea ceremony you could attend. The japanese Breakfast was very delicious. The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and going out. There is also a close subwaystation with a underground shoppingmall.

The hotel is very clean and quiet. The staff members exhibit exceptional friendliness and readiness to assist. They efficiently arranged for my luggage to be shipped to my next destination, allowing me to travel with ease. Additionally, the hotel provides a complimentary tea ceremony experience for its guests. I found the tea ceremony both enjoyable and informative, gaining insights into the traditional Japanese tea-serving rituals. I recommend this hotel.

This was exactly the experience we had hoped for when we looked for a ryokan in Kyoto. The rooms are great and spacious, the baths are a great way to wind down after a long day out, and the location is great with an easy walk to the downtown area and nestled among many small local Izakaya. The couple that owns the property are so nice and gave us a fantastic tea ceremony when we checked out. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
