We were well received, the breakfast was delicious, the room we stayed was great! The hotel is near the Kyoto Station, Kyoto Tower and Yodobashi which makes it even better! From the hotel you can walk to the Shōsei-en Garden and Higashi Honganji temple.

The hotel is located exactly next to the Kyoto station and subway station. Beautiful hotel with very nice rooms and bed. Definitely one of my favorite hotels. The service is also very good. It is not near the major shopping areas but transport is convenient in kyoto with only 2 subway lines and lots of buses. It is also near...

This was a nice place to stay in Kyoto. My room was comfortable and quiet, and the location was central for exploring on foot or by metro/train. The breakfast buffet is extensive (Asian and western). My room had a bath AND a shower, a mini-refrigerator, a power outlet by the bed, and room light controls also by the bed (or...

Every one from the doorman, to the Concierge (Emi), Chamber maids were fantastic and so welcoming. We stayed for three weeks at this hotel and arrived earlier than the check in but Reception dealt with us efficiently and professionally and ensured us an early check in which was so good of them. The room itself was lovely, gorgeous comfortable beds...

On arrival we were advised our booking was upgraded at no additional charge. The beds were very comfortable which was ok by me as I had a bad back. The room was very well presented and clean. The shower was a wet room with a clear window which was interesting. We found the blind eventually and solved the modesty issue....

We stayed here during our family holiday to Japan. We found the location of the hotel excellent right next to Kyoto Station. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful (with for example luggage forwarding service). We had a lovely Christmas dinner in the Boheur restaurant. We had a recently upgraded room which was nice but small. Room has very little storage...

We needed somewhere close to the station so that we could get off early in the morning and this hotel is perfectly located, being about a 2 minute walk to the station. Service was very professional, yet friendly and our room was quite beautiful, with lovely finishes and furnishings. We had a room overlooking the station and I must admit...

If you are looking for a hotel with convenient location (5 mins walk from Kyoto station), clean and comfortable room, great variety of breakfast, reasonable charge for parking overnight (1500 yen), this might be your choice. Read some reviews saying that the noise of train cause disturbance but luckily i didn't hear it during my stay, maybe the direction of...

The hotel is quite good in facility, design and very dedicated in eco friendly. (No chlorine for bath towel, organic tea..) I will definitely recommend this one as the location is convenient for foreigners and those who need convenient transportation.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
