Standard Japanese room, nothing special. Small but clean. Sleep quality was good though, less traffic on this street. The staff spoke little English but we could manage. We were happy about the location since the subway, bus stops and train station were pretty close.
Do not buy breakfast there, you'll end up in some chinese 'restaurant' with microwave food for 1000 yen. Not worth it, you can definitely get better food elsewhere.

The hotel is located on a quiet side street and is like a small inn. My room was not big but had a nice balcony. The bathroom was small but that's the Japanese style. The rooms are clean and the staff courteous. They can exchange foreign currency at the front desk. They also have a Japanese breakfast available but you must order by 8pm on the night before; it's nothing fancy and the items are the same every time - rice, fish, pressed egg. The restaurant serves dinner that has more variety but I did not try it. There are a few other small restaurants near the hotel but nothing major. The location is very convenient, with the train station just 10 minutes away walking distance. Overall, it's a modest hotel and the price is reasonable and I would stay there again.

Hotel is nice, room is small but that is to be expected when staying in Japan.
Very clean and tidy
Location is a little away from the main Kyoto station but only a 2 minute walk to the subway station. so not too much of an issue
Close to Golden castle and Imperial palace
Free WIFI

Conveniently located close to the metro station and to lively parts of the city that you would want to visit anyway. Reasonably priced (€75 per night for a couple and a five year old child, for three nights), clean and quiet. On the other hand: really small rooms and even smaller bathrooms that somehow manage to have everything you need. Also I wouldn’t recommend eating breakfast.
I would go again, and would recommend to others that are looking for a hotel in this price range.
My rating would be 3.5, but I am changing it to 2 because of the fact that I had to pay the only day that we had breakfast twice, because I payed to the guy that gave me the vouchers and when I was leaving they asked me to pay again saying: “if you don’t have a receipt you have to pay….”. So be careful!

Stayed here for 4 nights and couldn't fault much, maybe size of bath towels.
Staff very helpful and did well to make sense at my broken attempt at Japanese.
Great location and would stay there again if ever in Kyoto. Everything is within 10 to 20 minutes by train.
Facilty is non smoking which is a bonus in Japan.

The hotel is simple but has everything one might need. It's located in the centre of Kyoto and subway station is right behind the corner. Also very close are: Manga Museum, Nijo Castle and Sanjo-dori, which is a charming street with nice shops, restaurants and buildings from Meiji era. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. I really enjoyed staying there. But If you want to have a good Japanese breakfast, don't bother buying one in the hotel, though. I was having great breakfast for the same prize (1000 Yen) in Iyemon Salon, which is about 5 min walk from the hotel on Sanjo-dori - close to crossing with Karasuma (plus they have variety of delicious green tea).

We asked for a non-smoking room on the non-smoking floor. They gave us room 405. The moment the room door was opened a crack, an overwhelming smell of cigarettes smoke came rushing out. I went downstairs to ask for a room change. They told me, they can't because they are full. I explained my wife is pregnant and cigarette smoke is bad for the baby. That's when they agreed to changing the room. We changed to room 413. It was scent free when we settled in. Unfortunately, after 2-3 hours, we start smelling cigarette smoke by our door again. We went down to complain that it seems like someone is smoking in their room. The person at the front came up with us to investigate. Quoting what he told his colleagues "without a doubt there is someone smoking on the 4th floor". To his credit, he did try to "investigate" by trying to figure out from smelling in the hallway and checking from outside. They told us, they will investigate and once they find out they will ask the guest not to smoke in the room. There is nothing else they can do to solve my problem. Their solution was a Febreeze room spray. Unfortunately, as I write this review we are still suffering from lingering cigarette smell in our "non-smoking" room on their "non-smoking" floor.

This might not be the staff or the hotel's fault but unfortunately, this is by far the worst hotel experience. If they are going to offer non-smoking floors, then they should be able to enforce it. Other hotels have clear fines and smoke detectors to enforce the no smoking in room rule.

If the other hotels in the area weren't all full as well, we would have checked out hours ago. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone sensitive to cigarette smoke/smell.

The hotel is very clean, all bed linens and towels are changed every day. The access from Kyoto Station is either using metro or by taxi (taxi cost is about 1200 JPY). The hotel is very close (walking distance) to International Manga Museum and the short distance (two bus stops) to Nija Castle. The free wired Interned and Wi-Fi is available in the room (good speed). The room was not so big – but i booked semi-double rooms so I knew what to expect and it was OK. I booked this hotel just one day before arriving but the staff was very helpful and they provided us two neighbouring rooms (very good if you travel with children). The breakfast is available only as set |Japanese menu and it has to be ordered the day before till 8pm. I can imagine that for the people staying more than two nights it can be boring to eat every day the same set. Some places to eat are round the hotel (and as in all |Japanese cities there are plenty of such places at the station and round it). The room was equipped with a kettle but only an instant roasted tea was offered (no coffee). It is pity that there is no coins operated laundry. Such laundry (public) is located close to the hotel (10 minutes walk) but staying only two nights in this hotel we decided not to use it and wait as we come to the next hotel (with the laundry inside) – there was in the public laundry the queue in the evening, and in practice it was necessary to seat and wait all the time for so real waste of time. The lack of laundry I treat as the major disadvantage of the hotel, comparing to many other |Japanese hotels.

The hotel is located conveniently with just 2 min walk from Karasumaoike subway station, which is where the 2 subway lines in Kyoto meet. It is in the middle of the business district so it is surrounded by office buildings. However, the area is quiet at night and there are not many restaurants nearby, so finding a good place to dine is not easy. It definitely needs some renovation as the lobby is old and the rooms are also quite worn. One of the glasses in the room has some stinks in it, which is something I don't expect to see in a Japanese hotel. Otherwise, the place is generally clean. The room is, as usual like many Japanese hotels, extremely small. I stay there for 2 nights. The price is extremely competitive (3900 yen for a night, i.e. about US$37). It does not accept credit card though so prepare to pay in cash.

Yes, my room was small but it was perfectly adequate, very clean, and I was very happy with it. The bathroom was cute and spotless. The staff at the hotel were very helpful. Some spoke English better than others but they were very willing to help. I didn't take the Japanese breakfast. Some days walked to the closest Starbucks (only 2 or 3 blocks away) or to a French bakery which was even closer. Hotel is pretty centrally located -- a fairly short taxi ride from Kyoto station. There is a subway station also close by. There are a couple of computers in the lobby which guests can use at no charge.
