guzo station is nearer than kyoto
when you use hanku line from umeda, it's better to get off at garasuma staion
then go upstairs and you can see sign saying transfer to sizo station
from sizo to guzo staion it takes 8minutes
just go out through no.2 and turn right
you can see the hotel within 3 minute's walk

We stayed at this hotel for almost a week on our first-ever trip to Japan. We really liked it overall, and especially appreciated the friendly staff. Here are a few things we wish we had known. Although this hotel is within walking distance of Kyoto South Station, it is at least a 15 minute walk into a nondescript residential neighborhood. There are many hotels closer to the station, although they are bigger and (I suspect) more expensive. I think we got a pretty good value with this hotel based on others I looked at, but do consider whether you need to be closer to the action. Secondly, Westerners need to be prepared for the small size of Japanese hotel rooms and bathrooms. Get a room with 2 beds-- the rooms with 1 bed are microscopic! The 2 bed rooms are quite comfy and also have more space to hang your things. Finally, do experiment with the unfamiliar breakfast items. Sticky rice with miso soup, pickled cabbage and tofu aren't typical western breakfast foods, but they are actually quite nutritious and tasty! This hotel also tries to cater to westerners by including cereal and milk. And the fruit was consistently outstanding. One more thing, when you are leaving for the day, ask the hotel staff to write your destination(s) in Japanese on a slip of paper. So much easier to communicate with cab drivers, bus drivers, etc!

Hotel looks trendy and chic. Room is new and clean. A bit expensive. Paid about 130 USD per night for room only. Breakfast cost about 1,030 Yen per person. Needed to type a code to enter the door before reaching our room on ground floor.

Onsen is on the right of Reception counter. Male guest used the room key to enter. Female guest needed to type a code. Wish they gave us 2 room keys so we don't have to wait for each other at the lobby after we finished the hot spring bath. Staff is good. Buffet breakfast was ok.

We walked both ways from and to train station as it is easy to drag the luggage on quiet small streets. Bus stops both sides of the street. Cross the street to the bus station to buy one day pass for easy use. You don't have to buy from central bus station.

Very happy with the hotel.

This is a 3 stars hotel which is not worth the amount I paid for (nearly 5.5k yen for 2 nights) and it's not even a suite or premium room!!

Frankly, there are much better yet cheaper options nearer to JR Kyoto station (while staying here, I went to check out other hotels nearer to the train station).

To make things worst, the hotel front desk staff manner were aloof, their very rigid and lousy service attitude from the staff members and many do not speak English. But when they see an European guests, they suddenly able to speak English!! (hilarious!!) So obviously they do not welcome Asian!!

Another factor, this place is about 10mins (if you know the shortcut) but otherwise it's about 15 to 20mins walk away from JR Kyoto stn, and with your heavy luggage, it is no joke!!

Like I mentioned earlier, There are many other hotels which are much worth and nearer to JR Kyoto station. And if you are going on a guided tours, all tours will be pick up and drop off near JR Kyoto station too, otherwise you will be rushing for these tours and combined with rainy season, it's not helpful at all!

Not to mentioned, their breakfast selection is really bad, it's just not worth the amount paid.

Just skip this place, way too pricy with very small room yet; rigid and lousy service attitude from all Front Desk staff!

brandnew hotel (opened april 2014), extremely clean, very nice and helpful staff, free green tea and coffee (sachets at the reception in the lobby), excellent beds and blankets, great to have your own japanese toilet in the bathroom, toiletries & daily fresh towels if desired, watercooker in the room, daily fresh yukata if desired, choice of different pillows (!). advicable to book with breakfast which a well sorted buffet with japanese and western choices. I especially enjoyed the public japanese bath (men/ women seperated) to completely relax after a busy day walking all over kyoto. there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel entrance, most of the interesting sites can be reached from here even without changing the bus, other then that with a day pass (500 yen) it is also very easy and comfortable to change busses. hotel is easily reached by foot when you arrive at Kyoto station (10 min walk from south exit/ entrance), in 5 min walking distance there is a mall (Aeon mall) with a well sorted supermarket, a couple of restaurants can be found also in 5-10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. travel light with small luggage since there is no closet in the room and the rooms are relatively small which is anyway well known among japan travellers!

The hotel is 10 min. walk from Kyoto station and is also in front of bus terminal, Kujo-Shako. It makes easier to move by bus. And a big shopping mall,AEON is near the hotel.
The room is clean and big. The bath was new and clean too, but I wanted more amenity in the bath.

We are always concerned where to stay while traveling in a foreign country namely one that is so different from what you are used to. Green Rich Hotel is a great choice for you because of the following:
- Location - It is just 10 min walk away the Kyoto Train Station. This is helpful because in your sightseeing you will need to go several times to the station since you can get everywhere from there. Also, it has a bus station almost in the hotel's door which is also extremely convenient. The main routes that pass by takes you to the Higashima area for instance.
- Service - The personnel speaks english so that helps a lot and they are very helpful.
- Room - If you have travel to Europe, the room here is a little bigger (not so much) but it is comfortable with all the services you need: bed is comfortable, A/C, power outlets, tv, coffee machine, shower, toilet.
- Services - They offered you umbrellas (for rainy days), they have a public sauna room (for women it is a controlled entry area), restaurant where you can get breakfast. One this one, it is a mix between japanese and western, having egg, juice, bread, coffe, tea, fruit, as main options.
- Other: Just next corner you have a sushi restaurant (good for dining) and a 7-Eleven convinience store.

Well located just a short 10 minute walk from Kyoto station (where evening meals are a wide selection of restaurants and an amazing site in itself), in-house onsen, laundry and a good breakfast menu for locals and westerners, clean and professional reception. Worthy of a revisit.

We came in quite early to leave our bags and the reception staff was very courteous. By the time we came back, our bags were already delivered to our room. We requested to change room to a non-smoking room and the staff obliged and the same guy actually re-delivered our bags. The room and bathroom were very clean. It has all the amenities needed - toiletries, mugs, kettle, fridge, hairdryer etc. I've been warned that the room size in Japan can be small. Being small sized myself, it was big enough. On the first floor (lobby level), you can find the vending machines, microwave oven, washing machine and public baths. In fact, they also offer massage/spa services.

Yes, the bus stops are just in front of the hotel and Aeon Mall is quite near. While not just across the Kyoto Station, this hotel is near enough to the train station. Will stay here again when I'm back in Kyoto.

The hotel room was very small but cozy enough. The walk from Kyoto station was at least 15 minutes away. Advisable to take the bus 205 to and fro hotel. Had a comfortable and hassle free stay for 2 nights with my husband and 1 year old child. Aeon mall next to the hotel was a wonderful place to shop!

Very convenient location... a pleasant 8-10 minute walk from the main wonderful Kyoto rain station. Plus the bus stop outside the hotel for transport.

Hi there.. ! 😊 Sorry for the late reply. Hopefully this still would be useful. - yes, there is washing machine. Very easy to use, you just put coins to make it work. - i think the onsen is for hotel guest only, and it is seperated for man and woman. I didn't went there due to my tight schedule. Hope you enjoy your stay! Cheers.
