Well , I had an amazing time here !Value for money and very nice hosts and lovely people .
They never say NO to you and the place is very clean , modern , and convenient to the transportation . From Kyoto station is just walking distance 10-15 min and you can get public bus near the hostel to visit few temples .
I randomly chose this place but it turned to be the best place that I chose during my 15 days trip in Japan. The hosts are so friendly that I extended my trip for another night there :-)
Very highly recommended ! BOOOM!
Thank you!

I stayed with 3 friends at KHR in May. It had recently opened in March 2015 and it showed. The place was spotlessly clean and orderly. The host/manager speaks English; she is extremely friendly and welcoming! The showers were fancy, large, and more luxurious than many hotel showers. We stayed in an air-conditioned tatami mat room with futons and a private bathroom. The floor was spacious enough for us to sprawl out and sleep comfortably - it could easily have slept 5 or 6. At times, we forgot it was a hostel; it felt more like a hotel (other than the price!).

At nights, the ground floor acted as a lounge for the guests to meet and share their day's adventures over a drink - we got to know some fellow travellers. The location is quiet but good: less than a 5-minute walk from the Jujo subway station, a couple stops from Kyoto Station.

All in all, this is the best hostel we stayed in out of 5+ on our trip, and I can't say enough good things about this emerging guesthouse.

I originally planned to stay here for just a night, but after spending such a brilliant night in Kyto Hostel Ryokan, I just couldn't help but to stay for another 3 nights!.

Firstly, the staff. She is just absolutely amazing. She is kind, well-mannered, funny with jokes and very helpful in getting traveling information in Kyoto. Secondly, the place has been just built this year, so the rooms and other facilities like toilets, shower rooms, kitchen and laundry are very clean and very new. And lastly, the location of the Ryokan is also very nice as it is only within 5 mins of walking range from the closest station.

Personally it was my first backpack trip ever and I was very lonely at the start. After meeting so many cool travelers in Ryokan, I ended up having so much fun with them and the feeling of loneliness went away. Very friendly atmosphere and the Ryokan holds many parties at night so its definitely a place to check out when you are traveling alone or with partner looking for some fun.

New, clean and spacious place. Staffs are nice and well-mannered. It was 5 minutes away from the Jujo subway station and K mart. Definitely one of the best hostels my friends and I have been to.

On a random note, best showering facilities I've ever used.

I stayed at this hostel during both of my visits to Kyoto (2 years in a row). And I know where I'll be booking my room the next time I will be visiting Kyoto. The owner really wants her customers to be happy and feel welcome. And she's open to suggestions. All the other employees are very friendly too. I personally like the walk from the station to the hostel too. A bike rental company is not far from the hostel (a bike is the best way to explore the streets, temples, zen gardens and river side in Kyoto).
Yes, the space in the rooms with several bunk beds is a bit limited but don't forget that this is a hostel. A massive plus are the clean rooms, showers, toilets and all other communal areas. And the free WiFi's working well in all areas and rooms.
There are a lot of accommodation options in Kyoto but for me, this is the place to return to.

I stayed here because most other hotels in Kyoto were fully booked for the autumn season, but I'm glad that I stayed here. This hostel only opened mid last year and it shows in its cleanliness and modern decor. You have to share bathrooms with the other rooms, but this happens too with most ryokans and the bathroom was clean and well maintained. Shower rooms have a separate dry and wet area which I especially liked as other hostels usually don't have this feature, making bath time a messy affair. Free wifi and breakfast of toast and japanese rice is provided.

Do yourself a favor, and BOOK THIS PLACE NOW! I stayed for 3 days, and if I could give this place 10 stars I would. It's a brand spanking new house, friendly host/guests, great location just south of Kyoto station, large rooms/space for Japanese standards, and all that for a great price!! Chika chan was an awesome, friendly host, always willing to help/give advice and we had an Okonomiyaki/drinking party on my second night that was fantasic! Without question, whenever I come back to Kyoto again I will be staying here :)

The owner is a charming lady who simply want to make your stay perfect.
The room we got was perfect. Comfortable & clean. also mini-breakfast is offered. Location is superb. 15 minutes walk from the station. No doubt that we will stay there again on our next visit to Kyoto.
