We had an incredible stay at Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo. We were welcomed by their friendly staff who served Matcha upon check in, and then we were shown around our beautiful dwelling with a private onsen and a large tub in addition. Our fridge was stocked with local beer and sake which we enjoyed. Their breakfasts were delicious with a choice of local fish or wagyu as the main, and finished off with ice cream. Everyone was very attentive and helpful. We highly recommend and will be back.

Thank you @Haru and @Hiru for welcoming us to the Nazuna Nijojo ryokan with the warmest hospitality. We loved the specially made matcha tea and New Year sweet treats upon arrival. Then they delivered a complimentary afternoon meal of delicious kitsune udon for our hungry sons! The Matcha room was spacious, very comfortable, and beautifully decorated with a private onsen bath. The thoughtfulness and attentive service really impressed us. The highlight was the special Kaiseki dinner on our first night at the Bungo restaurant in their sister hotel which was entirely based on premium wagyu beef. Another highlight was the kaiseki breakfast which was freshly cooked in front of us by @Haru. A very special experience and we would be happy to return again.

My partner and I spent a night here for our last night in Kyoto and it was undoubtedly the most amazing place we stayed at so far. Our one regret was only booking this for one night instead of the three we spent here. The room we wanted here was booked out for our first day in Kyoto, so it was a bit out of our control but let this be a heads up, book the room you want early on!!

We stayed in one of the rooms with the open air bath and it was beautiful! This ryokan was incredibly spacious and clean, it has every household item that you need and more, every room has AC, the beds were comfortable and spacious, and the location is quiet and peaceful. In addition, the staff is very friendly and helpful and available ant any time if you have a question.

We did not opt for any of the meals provided by this location, so can’t speak on that topic.

We’ve never stayed at a place quite like this one, but this was different and special. The price is steep compared to your typical hotel, but believe me when I say it’s worth it.

The most amazing ryokan experience ever!
Check-in process was seamless where we were served Japanese green tea and sweets. Shortly after we were shown to our room, explained how to use the baths, hotel’s rules etc.
We opted for the 7.30pm sukiyaki dinner, which was delicious and the staff preparing our dinner was really nice, polite and engaging.
Breakfast was as amazing, with each of the dishes delicately prepared and presented.
The area was also very quiet and although a bit of a walk from the train station, it was a relatively easy walk.
I would 100% recommend Nazuna Kyoto Nijo-jo.

We stayed 4 nights at the Nazuno, and we liked it a lot. The room was spacious, with shower and a private garden with stone bath. Japanese breakfast was perfect, and so was the Sukiyaki served for dinner. The young hotel crew was extremely dedicated, friendly and professional in any respect. The Ryokan has only 5 rooms which makes the stay very private and quiet.

Where do I begin? Having had stayed in a traditional ryokan (in Hakone) before, this trip was with my husband, son and his wife (two different rooms - Genmaicha and Houjicha) so, understanding the my husband and son are larger American men, I felt that we needed a more westernized vibe! I booked Nazuna Nijojo and am so happy we did!!!

Sitting on the floor an an extended period of time is problematic for this group, so dinner and breakfast at the hearth was perfect. I was worried that it would not be enough food for the boys, but i was mistaken. Dinner and breakfast was SO much! And it was so delicious! We opted for Kyoto Sukiyaki (done properly) for dinner was incredible. I must add, that in the States, I will rarely eat raw egg, but here, it was amazing. It adds a certain kind of richness to the meat that is like not other. Breakfast was delectable and quite filling after the amazing dinner.

Both party's (in separate rooms :)) enjoyed the private onsen prior to dinner... after dinner and before breakfast. It was cold out (February) but was amazing in the bath! So private and so relaxing. Understand that water is not from a hot spring - but it was still amazing.

The staff at the ryokan was so gracious and kind. They were very accommodating and did hold our luggage while we visited Nijo Castle prior to check-in.

Time went by so fast! I wish we would have another another day to relax, but Japan has us moving ahead to our next adventure.

We arrived early and were asked to leave and return at 3pm as there are no facilities whatsoever here. Our room was nothing like the photos which make it look FAR better and more luxurious than it is. The staircase up to the bedroom was like a ladder and was dangerous to climb as all facilities ie Bathroom, toilet are on the ground level. The onsen is much smaller than it looks on the photo and we struggled to fit 2 in there. There was a hole in 1 wall and another and been re-plastered and left! To get to the terrace you had to climb through the bedroom window. It shows as Superb on Bookings.com but we were extremely disappointed. It cost £900 for 1 night and as we had to leave at 11am it was not value for money. When I asked for a bottle of water as I was leaving I was told they had none!!

We stayed here on the last day of our Kyoto trip, and it was a perfect accommodation to relieve the tiredness accumulated over the three days.
The staff prepared everything we needed and guided us friendly. The rooms were very clean, cozy and amazing.
Dinner and breakfast also gave us the perfect time thanks to the staff's careful guidance and the combination of fresh and flavorful ingredients.
Even on the morning of our departure, the staff came out outside the hotel to see us off and gave us the best experience until the end.
Next time I will come to Kyoto again, I will definitely stay here again. And I would definitely recommend this place to people around me.

This was our first visit to Kyoto and first time staying in a ryokan and wow, this was better than we could have imagined! The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the most pleasant stay. It was the best service we have ever had at any hotel ever!

The room was spacious, beautiful, and clean and had lovely amenities for us during our stay. We stayed in the Gyokuro room on the top floor with two incredible baths and plenty of space. It was lovely!

We had the sukiyaki dinner, Japanese breakfast, and Ochazuke and would highly recommend it all! The dinner and breakfast were both intimate experiences filled with delicious food, relaxing environment, and gracious hosts. The presentation of the food and the taste of each dish was amazing!

This was the perfect way for us to relax and recharge as we continue to explore Japan. Highly recommend booking with breakfast and dinner and prepare to stay from check in to checkout - you won’t want to leave the property once you are here!

Special thank you to Mana, Akara, and Shota for making this the highlight of our trip. Your warmth and hospitality made us feel so special. We so greatly appreciate each of you and hope we can one day come back again!
