This place knocks me out. Everything about it is great. We had a comfortable room, with good air conditioning, and breakfast was brought to us each morning. The staff was the friendliest you've ever seen. Such nice people. The owners are extremely helpful with information and advice. The location is convenient to the whole city. It's quiet at night, and safe and secure. What more could anyone want?
Okay, let me admit this first. I may be a little biased in reviewing this place. The owners, Christina and Michael are good friends and their daughter is one of the best friends if my daughter. But what the heck. If you choose to stay here you will find out whether I am right or not. I stayed in the unit at 11, Jalan Sin Chew Kee which is a row house a common sight in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The ground floor is occupied by Anita, the lady Friday of the owners. The first floor has three rooms, Indian, Chinese and Malay with paintings keeping the theme in mind. There is a full bath and a separate toilet and bath as common facilities for the three rooms. Hence, it is better when a family is occupying the three units. There is a dining table, microwave, and tea/coffee maker. Anita was kind enough to leave some fruit for us for late night snacking. I am sure she would have obliged if I had asked for bread, butter and jam and such like. Food is not a problem though. There is a Mamak place just around the corner, an outlet of Old Town White Coffee nearby and the popular VRS Cafe on the parallel Jalan Galloway. Sarang Cookery, the restaurant that Christina and Michael runs, is also close by on Jalan Galloway. This place is just behind the Hotel Swiss Garden and Residences, and once you cross the road in front and turn left to Jalan Tong Kat Shin, there are many Nasi Kandars to whet your appetite. Staying with Sarang is not about luxury. But if you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation which is centrally located and want to see the Kuala Lumpur that most tourists don't see, come stay with Christina and Michael and I assure you that you won't go back dissapointed.…
We´ve been there just for 2 nights and we really enjoyed it ! It was much more than expected. It was the last stay before we headed home again and just wanted to get most out of that awesome city Kuala Lumpur ! Sarang B&B is so central that you can reach the exciting things going on in no time - just by walking there. They really take care of you and help with all you wish for! If we gonna go to KL again than this is the place to stay ! THX for a great time :)
We spent three nights there and could not have chosen a better place! The staff was wonderful, the room basic but clean, great showers and tasty breakfasts. Good location for exploring the city. Also their restaurant serves up great food nearby.
Quirky old house with a brilliant manager Anita who could 't do enough for us even seeing us off to the airport with a little breakfast 'bag" at 6 am. She is a star asset! We were a little worried about shared bathrooms but this worked well as there are only 3 bedrooms so was never a problem. The location is fantastic, central, in a quiet street close to loads of street food in the evening, the overhead monorail, bus etc. KL hotels are expensive like any big, commercial centre so Sarang is indeed a find and to be recommended. Like staying in sombedoy's private home and refreshingly different.
