Detailed Reviews
If you get lucky to have space in this truly great boutique hotel 6 nicely decorated rooms in Male, you will find out that you are right on top of the best stylish restaurant in town. SALA is a gem in a very difficult town in terms of noise and urbanism. The German owner is a true hospitality master and he will insure that you are well taken care while traniting in and out of your resorts. Forget the rest ..This is heaven in this distressed capital ;)

Do yourself a favor and fly into Male a day early and spend a night at Thomas and Rose's little Oasis in downtown Male. You'll be whisked right away from the chaos at the airport and sent in a taxi (included in the price) and Thomas will be there waiting for you when you step out. How the two of them have been able to create this lovely little guesthouse (and Thai restaurant) in the midst of the general dilapidation in Male is a great mystery. Between the lovely Thai dinner (extra) and the real German breakfast (included) it's just not to be missed. And as an added extra the ride back to the airport is also included in the price and you'll be able to get an earlier flight to your resort. Go spend a night!

We stayed passing through after a week in Dharavandoo. The Hotel is a structure with great attention to detail, nothing is missing. Super hospitality, excellent breakfast. I recommend stopping for dinner at the Thai restaurant inside the structure, it's really worth it.

A real oasis in the mittle of Male. The hotel has a lovely little courtyard where we enjoyed excellent Thaifood.
The room was very clean and with a comfortable bed. The owners was very helpful from arranging transportation to serving a very nice breakfast at 6:00, as we needed to catch an early flight.
We will be back next time we need a stayover in Male..

My wife and I spent our first night in the Maldives in Malé at the Sala Boutique Hotel. The hotel is cute and the rooms functional, with an amazing bed (Thanks Tom). The breakfast was great, with some homemade bread, fresh squeezed juice, and delicious fruit. We had heard great reviews about the restaurant and had dinner there. The food was super authentic and was amazing!
We were planning on spending our last evening in the Maldives in the same hotel but decided to stay on the island we were on for one more night, since we lost a day there due to our speedboat to the island being cancelled. We explained this to Tom and had asked if it was possible to still have breakfast at the hotel, since we would be in Malé at 9:00 am. He asked us when our flight was, which was at 8 in the evening, and he said that we could of course still have breakfast and if we wanted, we could use the room till we needed to leave back to the airport. Not to set a precedent of course, but he went above and beyond!
I would definitely recommend a stay at the hotel, which had very friendly staff and some very tasty food.

Room was very small but clean. Decent for an overnight stay to catch a seaplane. Breakfast was lovely. Don't request a wake up call because you will be told to set an alarm on your phone. Owner, Thomas, told me upon check out that he "had a problem with me" and said Agoda (who I booked through) hadn't paid him for my stay. I figured it was pay upon stay as I wasn't charged at time of booking 9 months prior or since. I paid him, even though it was significantly higher than the rate I booked via Agoda, and was on my way. I got home a few days later and realized Agoda had ALSO charged me for the room. I contacted Thomas immediately about a refund, less the water we took from the minibar, and was never responded to. I tried to dispute the charge on my cc and he fought it and so has now been paid twice for my stay. Agoda will also not respond to me. The cleanliness and breakfast was certainly not worth what I paid. Steer clear.

After a 3 week holiday in Helengeli we spent one night at this small but excellent hotel in Malé. Thomas as the owner and manager organizes the transfer from and to the airport, which is extremely helpful given the complexity of the city. The rooms are generous and well equipped with large beds and a lot of pillows. Very nice photographs represent different areas of Thailand. At breakfast, Thomas served a meal that included French croissants, chocolate croissants, German bread, eggs, sausage, cheese, fruit salad and everything else you could imagine including pieces of Dresdner Christstollen. At lunch we tasted the excellent Thai meals that his restaurant offers. The quality of all meals is truly exceptional, as Thomas imports fresh products from all areas of the world on a weekly basis.

Clearly an oasis inside the busy capital city of Male’. With only 5 rooms this charming boutique has everything to include an amazing Thai restaurant attached. The owner, Thomas, is attentive and fun to chat with as my entire family loved staying there during a three night stay after a week at the resorts.
The rooms have large king size beds , good air conditioning and are well decorated and clean. There is coffee, tea and a mini bar with drinks and snacks. Inside the rooms. The bathrooms have good amenities and fixtures. Also the Wifi is fast and reliable.
If you plan to stay there eat at the Sala Thai restaurant, you can’t go wrong with the variety of tastes, degree of hotness and the charming ambiance.
I was a very please customer!

A True hidden Gem. We ended up here due to some messed up travel plans. We avoided the suggestions of people at the airport . We were Amazed. Last minute booking, no worries. The Owners were welcoming and delightful, and exceedingly helpful. Where everyone else seemed to be there for their own interests, we choose correctly. The rooms were large, climate controlled clean and exceptionally comfortable. Coffee and breakfast were included. Even the mini bar was reasonably priced. The hotel had a Thai restaurant that was fabulous. It was the best tasting food outside of Thailand that I have been to. The owner took pride on having the ingredients flown in from Thailand weekly. Even th Mango sticky rice with coconut icecream was simply winderful, the mango and icecream had the freshest flavor. Again reasonably priced. We explored our surrounding streets getting true local color. When we find ourselves back in Male' we will stay here.

My husband and I stayed at the Sala Boutique Hotel overnight prior to heading to one of the resorts with over-the-water villas. We wanted to arrive a day early, just in case there was any trouble with our flights.
Thomas was absolutely amazing, answering email correspondence quickly, arranging transportation to and from the airport, and even walking us over to a nearby pharmacy so we could get PCR tests.
The rooms are beautiful and the Sala Thai Restaurant on site was fabulous. Fresh food and great service. We would definitely stay there again.

You would not stay in Male expecting to go to the beach :-) Male is a built up city with just the artificial beach for swimming. The beaches over the channel in Hulhumale are a bit better - but still certainly no substitute for the beaches at the locals islands/resorts. Male/Hulhumale are just overnights stops en route to/from your international flight. Sala Boutique Hotel is a very nice stopover, and has a great restaurant with excellent Thai food.
From Male airport all guests take a ferry to Male. Then grab a taxi. Cost will be 30 Ruffiya - less thsn $2. I do not think there are any places doing transfers.
The hotel picked us up at the AirPort, and helped us to get the Rights ferry to male, they Got a taxi in Male, and followed us to the hotel. Very helpfull owner, who also helped us to buy tickets to the island ferry next day.
I am sorry to say the hotel does not.
However Thomas the owner can tell where to go if you really need one.
We stayed two nights and then proceeded to get on a live aboard for diving. The then the to Holiday inn on in Kandoma island.
No need for pools if you are surrounded by the Indian Ocean. ;)
