Stayed here for a month in January 2016 and I truly enjoyed it.

The staff was very helpful and they can be trusted. We booked a standard room (for my friend) and a superior room (for my dad and I). The rooms were very clean however the only thing I didn't like was that they charged for everything, from new towels and bedding to extra cleaning days (they only cleaned once a week). We also had to pay for the electricity bill at the end of the stay.

The location and the hospitality of the staff made up for the extra charges. The location is close to a train station, restaurants and night life.

I will definitely stay here again when I go back to the Philippines. Highly recommended despite the extra charges.

We stayed in this hotel just for one night. Everything in the room was old and poor but we didn't need much - hot water, fan and bed). The working staff is friendly. But the place where the hotel situated is not safe (as the driver of taxi told us) so be careful.
P.S. stayed in Feb 2013

I was very tired from my trip , I was glad the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel was quick. check in was fast since i booked via agoda and paid for everything. I went up and entered the room, the room had the basic necessities one could ask for , especially for the price I paid for. Location was also a plus since its near divisoria where I plan to have my business meeting.
overall . I had a great time here. will stay here again with the family next time Im in town

When making my booking I thought I was on a direct site to New Solanie Hotel, 1811 Leon Guinto Street, Manila, Philippines. I wanted a room with breakfast included. The price was right so I booked a Deluxe Room, but when I landed in Manila, I took a taxi that cost me almost 200 Php. Of course the driver took the long way around to get to the hotel. Trying to check in I was told that breakfast was not included because I had booked through Hotel.com, then asked for a 2000 Php surety, of which I refused and almost walked out of the front door. The manager waived the surety after I threatened to walk out and find another hotel. I was shown to my room with a queen size foam mattress on top of a hard board, and a twin size foam mattress. The toilet is old and the water in the commode ran all night long, the only saving grace was the high pressure hot shower. The New Solanie is NOT NEW, but very old, and there are cockroaches in the room. The breakfast is not worth the trip down the elevator and the coffee is terrible. Luckily I had bought some milk at the supermarket and some fresh French pastries. I had to wait over 20 minutes to receive my awful breakfast, then they finally brought a glass for my milk, seems they never noticed me drinking it from the plastic bottle. My room was not made up as requested. All in all, I would give this hotel a very big miss. Electric plugs are stacked on top of each other, a real fire hazard. The food in the restaurant is very Philippine with a Western twist, in other words you would be better eating out. There is plenty of good food to be found at the Robinson Mall and other nearby attractions, a short taxi ride away.

I used one of the many hotel booking web sites out there to book this hotel. I paid about maybe $45 USD which is why I chose this hotel. I was hopping all around the Philippines and I was staying in on my final day there Manila because I had to catch my flight back home the next morning.

First of all, my cab driver did not even know where the hotel was. He had to ask directions about 2 times while we were in the area and it cost me a little extra while he drove up and down those streets. But he did find it. The outside looked decent and so did the interior at least the lobby. And, I wasn't even looking for anything fancy, just a place to crash for the night.

When I presented my printed out voucher the front desk guy told me that I had to put down a 2000 peso deposit on the room, which when converted back to US Dollars was about the price of the room. I told him I would not put down a deposit on a pre paid room. he said that it was hotel policy to require a deposit, to which I replied it was my policy not to stay at such a hotel. I grabbed my belongings and walked out and had to spend my last night at the airport in Manila.

I have stayed in numerous hotels across the US and the world and NEVER has any hotel asked for a deposit on a pre paid room. the only time I had to put down a deposit was when I paid cash for a room and the deposit when towards the cost of the room anyway.

I seriously feel like they were trying to take advantage of me because I was an American visiting a foreign country. For all I know they were going to make up fees in order to keep the so called "deposit" and for all I know, the front desk guy was just going to stick that in his pocket. And the area of town I didn't feel safe in, so I think it was better for me to go to the airport. At least there I know I was safe. And from reading other reviews, I'm glad I didn't stay there.

Not only do i NOT recommend this hotel, I will discourage all travelers to Manila to avoid this hotel. There are much better ones who are happy to receive you and treat you right. I don't need someone to kiss my you-know-what but I want to be treated decently and professionally and fairly.
