This is a tour that one should take while visiting South America. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND Pantanal Discovery in the Southern Pantanal starting from Bonito. We book trough Gil and as the guide book describes: Gil is "passionate about his job and does go out of his way to make sure you are having a great experience while exploring the pantanal... More

This lodge was booked for us by Pantanal Discovery. A guide and various activities were provided. So, let's start with the positive, as I much prefer writing positive reviews: - The Lontra Pantanal Hotel is reasonably well located on the riverside, although it has quite basic facilities - The pantanal is beautiful with stunning birdlife, caymans, monkeys, lizards, iguanas, wild... Rooms were fine. Not luxurious, but you don't expect that in the Pantanal. We booked through Gil of Pantanal Discovery. We crammed in too much, but Gil made it happen: he met us at the Gampo Grande airport, had a driver take us out to where the highway ended at night, got on a truck, which took a dirt road... More

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here on a 2 night/3 day package organised by Gil from Pantanal Discovery. Gil collected us from the bus station, drove us to his hostel where we had a very delicious free breakfast, and then drove us to an ATM (after collecting his wife to drop her off at work - both Gil and his... Nothing special about the hotel. It was basic. Rooms were not cosy nor were they very clean. Hotel grounds are nice, right by the water so nice view. Lots of birds. Food was good. Did the pantanal discovery 2 nights 3 days. For animal lovers 1 day extra would be better. Our guide, Joseph was excellent: very capable at spotting... More

So where do I start, I really didn't know what to expect about the pantanal or this lodge, I just saw some great reviews and its recommended by lonely planet so my partner and I thought lets do it!!! First of all a couple of the guides told us while we were doing the tours and not spotting any wild... More

After so many flight problems between U.K and Brazil, the reception in Campo Grande provided by Gils Discovery Tour made us astonished. He gave us many good information about tours in Bonito, accomodations and buses from the border to Santa Cruz, turning our life much easier. We stayed at his efficient hotel in town, with an amazing breakfast in the... More

Gil met with us the day before to go over the cost, which was a big thing for us as we were on a very tight budget but really wanted to see the Pantanal. Gil was very helpful and after long discussions we were on our way to the Pantanal. Unfortunately for us it rained the first day so we... More

We stayed here for two nights as part of a Pantanal tour. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the staff very friendly and the food as outstanding! Our guide Fabian was fantastic. Very knowledgable and friendly. A great place to unwind

“Take mosquito net for room. Buy repellant spray for the room and take DEET. (One great tip is to use DEET, layer of loose white clothing then spray room repellant over clothes. Best option for jungle trek. Worth buying a netted hat to protect your face from insect bites. Many a pretty girl returned with single swollen eyelids! Another tip is do not use any perfumed sprays before a night safari or jungle walk otherwise they will swarm around you!)”
