WE stayed at the hotel for 4 marvellous days. We had not been in a hotel of that level before. When we had no trips we decided to stay at the hotel, enjoying the swimming pool, the wood area that surrounded it, and the outside bar. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. The food was deliciuos.
Sincerely if we would go again to Foz do Iguazu, we returned to the same hotel.

We spent two nights at the Rafain Palace in late May 2006. The hotel is excellent, with very helpful staff, clean accommodation, great amenities and good food. The price was right and included a good buffet breakfast.

Due to the time of year we did not use the amenities (swimming pools, jacuzzi, volleyball & even a soccer field) There is also a playroom for little children and another for teens/adults (2 ping-pong and 2 pool tables). The gym is way better than most.

The only negative is the location. It is outside town on the road back to Curitiba. It means a taxi ride to anywhere, and organizing trips to see the falls, etc is a bit harder. The trips are expensive as you have to pay for the taxi to wait many hours while you see the sights. We negotiated 200 Rs. to see the Falls from first the Argentina and then the Brazil side; this takes most of a day. (By the way you must see both sides) The next day we went to the Parque des Aves (an excellent zoo with mostly birds and a few reptiles) back to the hotel for a shower (they let us have the room 'til 2:00 pm) and back to the airport - total for the day 130 Rs. We did not go to the dam.

On our first night we went to a show at the Rafain Churrasceria. A good buffet and a fun show. It is cheaper to go on a small group bus than by taxi. On our second night we were tired and ate at the hotel - a good buffet for 26 Rs.

Hope this helps

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. It's located just outside of Foz de Iguassu, toward Itaipu. 10 minutes to get to the dam, or city center, or 30 minutes to the airport, and a bit more to the falls. The hotel is overal nice and upscale, has a big pool and (expensive) restaurant, and friendly staff. Our room was a bit dark and murky though. The large majority of guests seem to be in tour groups. It's a fine hotel, but the room itself was not above average, so I'll only give 3 stars.

I've spent almost a whole week in this hotel, as I was attending a conference hosted here.

The conference facilities are great. The hotel is nice, but is located far from the Iguazu Falls (in a highway, going out of the city in the opposite direction).

However, my problem with the hotel were the outdated practices: they charge you for everything but the air you breathe. Want wireless? 2h, 24h or 48h cards are sold. Want to do a web check-in for your return flight? You want to purchase access to the business center. The guys at the front desk won't print the check-in for me even after I've paid for wireless access for my whole stay. Want to use the safe in your room? You guessed right, you have to pay for the key.

The prices are not cheap (USD $10 for a 24hr wireless card), but even when they are (keys for the safe box), they're not worth the inconvenience cause to their guests.

I guess they're abusing their location. The hotel is out of the city, there are no stores nearby, and you can't walk around (you're in a highway).

Would not recommend this hotel if you can choose. If you can't help it, be prepared.

The best part of our stay at this hotel was the day we left. The bed linen was soiled, toilets would not flush and a friend of ours asked if she could use our shower as she could not turn the cold taps on in her room.
In a hotel claiming to be four star one would not expect this and certainly wouldn't expect to have to pay to use a room safe.
Three times we asked for a change of room and were offered idetical accommodation on different floors. Identiacl except on one of the floors offered the door jamb was split and the door lock was not reliable.
Get passed an impresive reception and all the accommdation is brown and uninviting more akin to a prison cell.

I do not know how much rebate this hotel pays to the travel agent (FlyTours) that recommended it to me, rather than Iguassu Resort which was my first consideration and was indeed available.

Iguassu was on my list of places that I wanted to visit before I die, and I chose to make this trip after my work trip to Brasilia. The lady at the travel agent sounded nice and kind, but betrayed my trust so badly. I do not want to make this trip miserable, so I need to write this and put it out of me.

The location is bad enough, outside of town centre that makes it inconvenient to go out,, but does not have the advantage of being really out there, like the Iguassu Resort.

The building seems old, and the room smells old, and so does everything, including the outdoor jaccuzi, smelling musty.

Massage and relaxing was one of my conditions for choosing a hotel, but the massager lady (from outside) came late, which the front desk failed to tell me. The room - supposed to be the massage facility, was cald, had no music or any ambience, but with a thin wall, I could hear kids jumping around in the next door kids' space.
The sauna was also separate small room which you have to pay for, by the way.

Yes, the walls and ceilings/floors must be paper thin. I hear the conversation in the corridor as if just next to me. I must have been extra unlucky to be put into this terrible place on the night before and after the wedding of the daughter of the owner - that is what the tour guide told me. Thjis is almost 1am in the night after the wedding, and I suppose the noisy party must be related to it. Someone just called my room with a wrong number, and I cannot go back to sleep with the noise of the party. However, when I called the reception, they said it was normal for this hotel to have noisy parties at this sort of time.
I must have been extra unlucky to be on the 4th floor just below the restaurant and hear everything happening above in the restaurant - moving chairs or dropping a spoon or a child running.

I should have trusted Trip Advisor reviews and book the hotel myself as I first thought. Both the tour guide, and a couple I met for the day trip who are staying at IguassuResort say that hotel is good.

I was very disappointed about the lack of service in this 4 star hotel. Especially the younger women where rude or ignored me when I asked a question. Maybe because i was travelling alone as a women, or because I don't speak Portuguese? I do speak English and Spanish, but not many of the staff spoke one of these languages. The woman who is supposed tot answer phone calls, only speaks portuguese and a little Spanish. Furthermore, most of the time she does not answer the phone when somebody calls, which is rather annoying when you are expecting an overseas call.
There is a lovely pool, but all day there is very loud rock music playing, till about 10 pm. If yuo order something to eat or drink at the pool, do nog be surpised if you have to wait an hour for it to come, and do check the bill.

Hotel is ok, some rooms renovated, others not. Food is nice, well decorated and fresh. But beware of beds, we had a group of 6 people, 3 different rooms, and 4 of us were bitten by bedbugs. They were crawling everywhere on the floors, and as hotel does not use hoovers (just manual sweepers), the population seems to be exploding. It was a painful flight back to europe, and now, 2 weeks after, legs are still full of marks.
I recommend taking some repellets with you!
Apart from that, nice experience.

This hotel has a nice lobby but the receptionists were very robotic, 2 beautiful swimming pools, a hot tub in the beautiful orchids garden with an almost clean fitness center on the 2nd floor. This hotel is very far from town, there is no reasonable restaurants or other shops around the hotel. The only restaurant in the hotel opens for dinner @ 7pm (it was opened 25 minutes late the night I was there) with a buffet style, nothing really good or interesting to eat and it was very expensive. The waiters and waitress were not as courteous as they should be. The breakfast was okay, not bad at all. The room was very smelly, damp smell, the bathroom had very terrible smell and not as clean and it should be. This hotel is good for a convention, not for tourist since it is too far from the town and there is no other restaurants around. This hotel needs a serious improvement, clean and eliminate all damp smell in the bedroom and bathroom.

I stayed at this Hotel when I was studying abroad in Brazil. I visited many places when I was there...Rio de Janerio, Sao Paulo, Botucatu, Recife, Ponta Grossa...etc...and this was the most memorable hotel I stayed in. I loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was absolutely wonderful. A lot nicer than the pictures I see posted on this site. Great breakfast and the restaurant was pretty inexpensive for dinner too. We went to the Bird Park too and it was wonderful but the Falls were the best. Better than Niagra! I saw both sides and took the boat ride under the falls. It was very cold when I was there because it was in the winter time but it was still a great experience. Most people think of Rio or Sao Paulo but this is a place that you have to see. I booked it through a friend who is a Brazillian travel agent and we got an exceptional price. My recommendation is to always book things through local travel agents. I split the room with another person and we only paid $27 american dollars per night!
