Well, this was a last minute thing, we couldn't find any hostel and this was the only one available. The location is relatively good, a 15 minute walk from Copacabana Beach. Regarding the hostel itself, the rooms are ok but the bathrooms are not so clean. Regarding the staff, they weren't really that friendly or helpful. Could have been better.... More

Good compromise between price and quality. I recommend it, above all for its perfect position. It is an hostel so don't expect you to find any luxurious item there. It's ok for backpapers people. It's very close to underground station, bus stop and bike rent station.

This place is like a bad joke, the staff are completely unhelpful, any information you ask them they never seem to know about anything. The place is filthy, just poking your head thru the toilet makes you feel sick. There is a minging bar downstairs which plays very loud music which means you can't get any sleep until early morning.... More

The receptionist was kind during the whole trip, however the rooms were not even a little bit comfortable, there were only two bathrooms and both weren't so clean. The hostel had no water for two days so this made this conditions even worse. It's a couple blocks away from Copacabana beach but in a small street with lack of security.

We had planned to stay in cabana copa hostel which is next to this one, but it turns out there had Ben some mistake and they were overbooked so we came to this neighbouring King George hovel AKA Copacabana4u. We opted for a 70 reals per night per person private room, and expected a double bed, air con, a window,... More

We booked this hostel (& paid a deposit) way in advance of New Year to ensure we had a bed secured. About a week before they emailed us to say that the hostel owner had now changed and our booking was cancelled however we could rebook the same beds at triple the price. At that late stage we did not... More

Booked one night in this hostel, opted for 9 bed dorm room as there were 5 of us and since we had an early flight from Rio the next day we thought it would be cheap but cheerful. We were WRONG!! Firstly the useless receptionist said that we didn't have a booking. She then led us down to a basement... More

I'm not normally one to leave a review, but after staying here I felt I must warn potential hostellers of what they're letting themselves in for. When we arrived we were greeted instantly by the stench of dirt, before the pleasant but clearly mentally challenged hostel receptionist denying we even had a booking with them. After some negotiation and proving... More

This hostel is run by incompetent staff and is dirty. The mattresses are filthy and there is black mould growing in the rooms. The whole place smells terrible! The wifi was very slow and didn't work in our room. The 'airport shuttle' is infact a local bus that passes the beach.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
