On the return from the beach, we found a leak in the room which ended up wetting some of the floor. When we let the host know, we thought she could say 'sorry for the inconvenience', but quite the opposite she came to the room extremely alarmed and annoyed. She brought some towels to dry the floor and while my...

I stayed here for 4 nights for the carnivaI. I booked a room on March 2014 but when we arrived they were overbooked. So we end up staying in a small cubicle. We did not really mind since this cubicle had aircon, TV, ceiling fan and a sofa bed which was enough for me and my boyfriend, not much space...

We stayed at Fatima's from the 30/12/14 for 3 nights. Fatima was most friendly and despite not speaking very good English she made us feel very welcome in her home. Our double room was small and the shared bathroom was a pain but it was excellent value for money considering it was reveillion in Rio and shared rooms in nearby...

We moved into this BnB after staying at a nearby Hostel in Leblon which we didnt like. We booked it last minute and upon arrival we were delighted with this place. Fatima was a great host, told us everything that was good to see nearby and left us to it. She didnt really intrude in anything we were doing... You...

My stay was a total disaster simply because hours before my arrival time for a 2 night stay starting 30 dec 2014 I was informed by Fatima that although I had made my booking 8 months in advance and paid the deposit fee, the guest house was fully booked and therefore I would be assigned a tiny space not suitable...

Fantastic location, but that's where it ends I'm afraid. The room was small, the two of us, with backpacks barely got in the room. We were glad the location was so good as we spent very little time there. The shared bathroom was unexpected, but fine, if you don't mind walking down the hall. The aircon was old, noisy and...

Fantastic stay - will definitely return! I stayed for 6 nights in May 2014. Glad I didn't stay in a hotel; I think this was much more of a "local" experience. Like other reviews mention, Fatima was away and Raquel/Rachel was looking after the guests. There were also several other women in the house: Teresa (she cooks the best-smelling food!),...

We stayed here for 5 nights. Fatima was away for a couple of days, but a friend of hers (Rachel) was very friendly. With her help we got to see lots of Rio (f.i. the cable car that gives you an amazing view of the vafelas Complexo do Alemão). And, for us important. She speaks English. Rooms are good compared...

Fatima is a great host! Leblon is the nicest neighbourhood in Rio. She was very accomodating even offering us a glass of wine! The only criticism I have is that when we needed to use the Internet she would get is her daughter's laptop to use and we felt like we were intruding - it'd be worth while investing in...

Staying in Leblon

Neighbourhood Profile
Leblon
In addition to being one of the most upscale neighbourhoods in the city, Leblon is charming, elegant and simple. This posh area has some of the most famous and expensive restaurants in Brazil, along with some of the city’s best nightlife (including some places open all night). One of the best places to visit is the beach, located under the impressive “Morro Dois Irmãos” (Two Brothers Hill). It’s a pleasant place to relax and admire the local beauty.

“Tips about Location: On Sunday, they close part of the street along the beach (for runners/bikes/skateboarders) and there is a "hippie fair" (outdoor market) in east Ipanema. You can walk to the hippie fair; it's 45min or so if you walk along the beach. Fatima's house is an easy walk to the Botanical Gardens and Lagoon walking path. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, bars, grocery stores in the area; just walk toward the beach on Venancio Flores and either go left or right on Dias Ferreira or Ataulfo de Paiva.”
