I stayed at this hostel for 7 nights and regretted booking for this length. Although my room (private) was clean and spacious (even included air conditioning) and the facilities within the hostel were good, I thought the place was very boring and had a dull atmosphere. I enjoy socialising and having a drink with other people during my travels, however...

We stayed here for 1 week after recommendations from 2 friends. The rooms were quite nice, the price was good, the staff were friendly and helpful however the major drawback for me was the lack of atmosphere and socialising. To me the thing that makes a hostel good is sitting around (at the bar etc) and meeting fellow traveller's and...

I spent two months in hostels in Rio de Janeiro and Pura Vida was the best of all I visited! Not only because of the team, staff and guests, the big building is surrounded by nature and the rooms and dorms are spacious and fresh. You have three options of breakfast (eggs, fruits or ham/cheese) with coffee/milk/chocolate/tea/juice. The hostel has...

We stayed first in a double room, then in a dorm. Both beautifully maintained and with a lovely charm you can only find in Rio. Facilities clean and staff have been super helpful whenever we needed tips or directions. Highly recommended, you won't regret it.

Good hostel in a really good location. Most of the staff very helpful. Cooking facilities however were poor and quite dirty at times. The bunk beds in the dorms weren't great either, too high, very little safety support and rubbish ladders.

The perfect hostel to enjoy the spirit of Rio, very close from Copacabana beach and everything at walking distance. Clean and very good ambiance. The bar of the hostel is also a very good place to meet people and party.

My second Hostel in Rio, not as good as my first one but still good value for money. No aircon in the dorm rooms which was a bit annoying, but lots of room for luggage to be locked away and adequate fan in the room.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
