The reason I reserved a room at this hotel was because I was staying one night in order to take an important test at a nearby University the next day. I wanted to pay with the credit-card I used online to reserve the room, but the inexperienced desk girl got pissed off at me when I said that I wasn't...

To be specific- I was terribly disappointment when i saw the room. The sheets on the bad had stains. The shower was a toilet with the Shower faucet hanging over it. We asked to change rooms. The other room was better, but had a bad smell. Breakfast was pretty poor too. We ate outside instead. Location- we stayed there on...

Great place to spend a few nights in Lapa. Pretty quiet, clean and tidy rooms, free wifi, and really cheap! The area does not look safe at night (its Lapa), but the Hotel is pretty safe. I even left my bag for a day after checking out, no prob. Much better than staying in a crapy hostel, totally recommend it!

During my staying in Rio, I slept in Hotel Mundo Novo and I regret it so much! The location is not so great, it's in Lapa, next to many restaurants and bars....which would be good, except that in the night there is no way to sleep. Plus, the hotel staff speaks so loud that helps not to sleep! Some corners...

When we pulled up in the taxi there were 3 prostitutes hanging at the doorway. Hay this profession has been around forever but getting past them into this sleeze pit took a bit of doing with 2 suitcases. Then we encountered the 2 semi english speaking reservations men who were behind bars that made any prison you've ever visited look...

The hotel is very well located in the very center of Lapa and is cheap. The free wifi network works quite well. That's all good I can say about this hotel. What we disliked: the staff seemed to be unfriendly and they wait for tips for everything they do. The room is dirty. In the bathroom we had a hole...

A simple hotel. Its location in Lapa and its price (400 reais total for 5 nights) were great. Most members of the staff didn’t seem friendly/helpful until my last day staying there. They don’t seem to know much about the city (where tourist info. centers are, etc.) or even know how to direct you to find out. Luckily they gave...

Great location close to some of the main places to go out in Lapa, but inside very basic. Small rooms, plastic mattresses, very noisy (ours was on streetside), but then again, we only needed a cheap place and on price Mundo Novo is hard to beat.
