Nothing special about this hotel, but also nothing to complain about. The rooms are garish but large and comfortable. Even though the room itself was garish and in need of redecorating the washroom was modern, large, and the shower itself was huge! The WiFi was dodgy, it worked only when it felt like it. The best thing about this hotel... More

I stayed here at the end of an Intrepid Trip through South America. I added 4 extra nights at the Rio Roiss and was satisfied with my stay. The location cannot be beat- a block away from Copacabana Beach, but near the south end so it is a convenient walk to Ipanema Beach as well. The staff was very friendly... More

My opinion is consistent with the others people. i was a a single woman traveler and also stayed at this hotel as part of a group. the location is perfect, on a quiet street but right in the thi ck of things. If you get an '02' room' on the corner you'll likely even have a small view of the... More

The hotel staff is great and very helpful. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean, if slightly dated. Breakfast is fabulous, and the view of Copacabana beach from the top-floor breakfast room is even better. Great location, reasonable prices--I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here by myself for a few days before starting an Intrepid tour. No real complaints about the Rio Roiss. My room was clean, and the hotel is well located in Copacabana with supermarkets and plenty of places to eat in walking distance. Best of all, the hotel is a block from the beach, with a good view from... More

The staff cannot speak any English at all. I don' know what it is with Brazil but this is not uncommon here. If you need any help you are on your own. You can pay to get a safety deposit box in the room (it is not included). The hotel is one block from the beach Copacabana. There are also... More

Just a street back from Copacabana Beach in a safe neighbourhood. Staff were helpful and easygoing with an amazing view from the breakfast room on the roof! The rooms were quite dated, and furniture very old, with a very weird smell - keep the cupboards closed!

We had this hotel selected for us as part of our tour - however it was one of the better hotel experiences we had in south america. A block away from Copacabana Beach and the main shopping/eating street in the other direction. Perfectly located. The resturant on the top floor was great for breakfast. The buffet breakfast was very good.... More

Located one block back from the beachfront, from my corner room I can just about see the sea. Rooms are clean but basic, slightly outdated decor but functional. Staff seem reasonably helpful. Breakfast reasonable - bread, cold meat, cheese, fruit, cereal. No swimming pool. Not an unpleasant place to stay but you could find somewhere nicer for not much more... More

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
