This was our first accommodation on arrival in Brazil (our first stop on a 4 month tour of South America) and the guesthouse definitely lived up to our expectations from reading other excellent reviews and looking at the beautiful photos on the website.
I just love the eclectic and artsy Santa Tereza neighborhood. This delightful B&B has the perfect ingredients: extremely helpful service from both Lance (owner) and Sergio (manager), large room (#4) with very comfortable beds, great fresh breakfast selection, free internet, etc. I would definitely recommend...More
We stayed here recently and from the minute we checked in until we left, the staff was nothing but helpful! Sergio stayed late and checked us in, made us feel at home, and even made dinner reservations for us. I was skeptical about the room...More
We arrived to a lovely reception from one half of the hotel's owners, Lance. Immediately felt welcome, safe and at ease. The hotel is in Santa Teresa, not the tourist end of town, but that's only to its benefit. We loved the area, especially the...More

You have to take a taxi or you can walk down to Rio de Janeiro (25 min walk downhill) and take the Metro. It's about a 4 block walk from the Metro to Ipanema Beach. Taxis are not that expensive though. Returning to Casa Cool Beans by taxi presents a problem as most we stopped did not know where the address was and asked us to get out of the taxi. Then our wonderful host told us what to tell the taxi and no problem after that. Be sure to ask what to tell the taxi drivers.
