Good for the price! Hotel is downtown near the famous “Mercadão” or the City Market.
It’s an Ibis Budget and it stands to the brand, if you ever stayed in other Ibis hotels you know what to wait for!
For those who have never stayed keep in mind that this hotel offers smaller bedrooms, I really don’t care depending on the kind of travel I’m taking, and in this case I just needed a clean bed and bedroom and this hotel offers this! The only problem I found was that there were no power outlets next to the bed, so I needed to charge my phone away from me.
The breakfast was good and the service upon arrival was absolutely excellent! I would definitely return for the cost-benefit!

The hotel is excellent for the price we pay. Breakfast is fine, rooms are clean and it's very quiet. The area is a little dodgy in the evening, but otherwise very good. I wasn't impressed with customer service though; they wanted to give me and my son a double room although I booked a triple. I explained that as bigger person, I need the double bed for myself and my son sleeps in the single, and they finally let us have it (I had booked online a triple room anyway!) but only the double bed was made with sheets. They refused to make up the single because we are only 2 people. They ended up . giving me sheets and I had to make the single bed for my son myself.

Brand new hotel, clean, simple and convenient for a short stay in porto alegre. The price is really good comparing to other hotels in Porto Alegre. It is located in a central area, making commuting easy through the city. Staff is friendly and helpful and there is free wifi in all floors. Breakfast is not a strong point within the Ibis chain, I would have it in any of the city's bakeries. Be aware that is not advisable to walk in the surroundings in the evening, although during the day is absolutely fine.

Good sleep and clean rooms. Reception crew is not enough supportive. Also the parking facility is not easy and safety, guests have to leave your car keys to a valet driver and wait a lot to be able to get the car.

The hotel is new and the room was pretty clean. Near of downtown with a good price.

Nevertheless, at our second night we couldn´t lower the room temperature in the hot december of Porto Alegre. At the lobby, we´re informed by the staff that it was because the the central air conditioning system had been set up to forbid controlling the temperature of the rooms separately (!). I don´t have to say that it was not predicted in our booking.

In addition, when we asked for a solution at the lobby, the employee named Claudio ironically suggested us to sleep at the lobby (!) where the temperature still lower than the rooms. It was 1:00am and our only choice was change rooms with no warranties of solving our problem. So we decided to go back to our room and try to sleep in spite of the heat.

So if you don´t mind to be treated without minimum respect by the staff, go ahead and good luck.

Check In:
Check in was fast an easy, and the women who checked us in was very helpful and efficient.

The room:
The hotel room was newly redone, and quite nice. The 'spacious shower' advertised on the ibis budget site however is at best an exaggeration. The entrance to the shower also had a serious leak and mildew problem that looked like it had been painted over several times, but never repaired. As a whole however the room was comfortable and very well taken care of. The air conditioner was effective, and the duvet very comfortable.

The service:
Service after check-in is where this hotel strikes out. There is no phone in your room, and the phone on my floor was broken.... So down to reception just to request a 3rd towel and 3rd pillow (the room was booked for 3 people). The towel wasn't a problem.... The pillow however we were told wasn't available because the maid was busy. After waiting 4 hours (so much for the ibis 15 minute promise) and a 2nd request the pillow was finally sent to us.

In the lobby, I unfortunately spilled a coffee that I had just paid for, directly in front of the person who served it to me. The person pointedly pretended not to notice until I asked for some paper towels to clean myself up. At which point he informed me that they didn't have any. I suggested there might be some in a bathroom, and he said yes, and when it was obvious he was not going to offer any assistance I asked where the bathroom was so that I could retrieve for myself the previously unavailable paper towels. I realize that I'm knit-picking here, but really... It's a hotel, and the staff is there to provide some reasonable services. It would have also been nice to have been offered a 2nd coffee without paying... but this wasn't to be my day.

The Location:
The area the hotel is located in is extremely dangerous, especially for tourists. My group was assaulted (once physically, once only attempted) twice during the 2 day stay by thieves within 1 block of the hotel. Granted the hotel has nothing to do with what happens outside of it's walls.... But if you stay there, I'd advise taking a taxi to a more tourist friendly area of the city. I was under the impression that the local trouble makers were specifically watching for people who left the hotel on foot.

Closer to bus station and sbway, that´s a perfect choice for mobility and good sleep on downtown Porto Alegre. Choose rooms with a view for the Guaíba Bay, that complete the relaxing scenarium. Nice service.

It´s a perfect hotel if you are on a business trip or just need a place to sleep. The room is very small but it is clean, has air conditioner, hit shower and TV with cable.
The provide towels and soap.
The breakfast is not included.
I paid R$ 99 per night for 3 adults (double bed with a single bunk bed) and R$ 14 for the breakfast (each).

A really budget hotel, but with all benefits for a light and nice stay. The room is super small but super cleaner, with only the few things you need: a small tv, a desk, and air conditioner. The lobby is very useful too, and it has a locker.

Stayed there for two nights on a business trip to attend a meeting nearby, at the city center. Location is good for this purpose, but seems bad for tourists: it's a decadent port-area full of semi-abandoned buildings. Curiously, it's a brand new hotel, opened for the World Cup.

I use to stay at Accor-branded hotels, but it was my first time at Ibis Budget (former Formule 1), so my expectations were low, since it's the chain's cheapest brand, and I must say I was positively surprised.

The room is simple and so small It even lacks a proper bathroom (there are separate doors for toilet and shower, with the sink integrated in the room, and between both). At the same time, it's perfectly functional, with cable-tv, efficient air conditioning, good bed and great internet. The only downside is the towel, too thin, but that's predictable.

There's a good food and beverages shop on the lobby, and breakfest has limited options.
Overall, for 40 USD (at current exchange rates) a day and 4 USD for breakfest, it's fantastic value for money on a business trip in Brazil. I'd certainly stay there again. On a vacation trip, I would choose a different neighborhood.
