The hotel is off the beaten path: close by. . 1/4 mile to the university. It is not by or on the beach. Views from the windows are of other condo's behind and an Oncological building out the front across the main street. A nice beach and walk strand is about 1.5 miles away as are all of the restaurants and it is situated very well for driving to the Atlantic ocean in about 15 minutes. For $80 dollars a night it is above average, as it is clean, spacious room, well equiped with a mini kitchen, refridgerator and most important to all of us travelers an Air Conditioning system that works very well. Buffet in the mornings until 10 a.m. . . and very good I might add. Even though the corridors are tile, I was able to sleep to 10 a.m. every morning without problems. (wonder if this would be a problem with more guests or in the high season of January) My gripes: this room has a corner shower (no tub) this shower enters from the corner with two panels moving at 90 degrees from one another . . there is ONLY 14 inches of clearance to get in or out. . .simply unacceptable in most parts of the world. . . if I were smaller say 50 kgs/100 lbs. . .no sweat but I am twice this plus some and the doors skin me a bit. The hotel has valet car service and it works very well with the parking garage under the South side of the first floor. My other [--] is that if you enjoy playing pool/billards, the table is NOT playable as there is no cue space at almost all of the corners due to tight space. . ..therefore if you enjoy playing DON'T as it is only an aggravation. Sauna and pool are more than adquate as is the outdoor patio.

For the money, I do not feel as if you can beat this for service, quiet, comfort and accessability. I give it a 4 star rating.

LOCATION & ATTRACTIONS NEARBY *** Mercure Florianopolis Convention Hotel is conveniently located (if you have a car) between the Florpia’s city centre and all the major beaches. It’s just next to the gas station with a large convenience store (where you can do all your grocery shopping).
Parking/garage is payable extra, 25 BRL.

HOTEL OVERVIEW *** This is definitely business (mainly domestic) orientated hotel, but also quite convenient for leisure stays. It has a nice restaurant and currently hotel has some of the rooms renovated (more to come as far as I know).

PURPOSE OF THIS TRIP *** Leisure – last minute booking

RESERVATION *** I have stayed there a previous year and it was OK. This time I did not plan to stay in this area at all, but due to different circumstances (the other hotel I booked was awful), I decided to make a last minute, midnight reservation and go to a known place. Mercure Florianopolis Convention Hotel was just few minutes away and this was great choice. I should have booked it in first place being very honest.
I booked it around midnight and few minutes later I showed up at reception. It was very handy as I could book (special prices as well) in the app and the reservation was available immediately in the app to review / change etc.

LENGTH OF MY STAY *** 1 night – Dec ‘19

CHECK-IN *** I arrived after midnight and was checked-in immediately. Lovely welcome with a smile and helpful attitude that’s what I really needed. I was also upgraded from a standard room (needed it for few hours only) to a new, renovated room. My car was parked in the valet parking and I was able to hit the bed in minutes. It was great that I could communicate in English as I don’t speak Portuguese.

LOBBY & RECEPTION *** Considerably small and can be busy in the morning. There’s some sitting space and if needed, they are also able to securely store your luggage.
The lifts are dreadfully slow, but I think this will be also done when the renovation is completed.

ROOM *** #1120 – Executive Apartment on top floor – this was my upgrade for this few hours stay. I loved it. Comparing the “old rooms”, this was a lovely improvement. It wasn’t the biggest room (I paid only for the standard one, so did not expect anything else), but spotless clean, modern and fresh. Very comfortable bed and fragrant bedding was fantastic. The room had a funny shape, but everything was designed in a smart way. The lightning was good and also I had a view over the city nearby.
Air-conditioner was easy to operate and you could also open the window (which I usually prefer).
There’s a safety deposit box, a phone, a kettle and plenty of electric sockets.
A kettle was also there with two sets, but no coffee (which normally is somehow provided) and nothing to mix the warm drinks (a mixing stick or a spoon would be handy) – just a small comment on this.

BATHROOM *** Shiny clean and also modern in style. Very bright and spotless. Good quality toiletries and fluffy towels were provided. This was a room with a shower cabin.

BREAKFAST *** Breakfast was payable extra (approx. 7 EUR) and it’s served downstairs. Even for a busy hotel like this, the choice was great. Cold and warm meals, fresh fruit, juices, yoghurts & cereals, plenty of good coffee and of course selection of freshly baked cakes. Very happy with that and I do recommend you to take it there.

INTERNET ACCESS *** Complimentary Wi-Fi, easy to access and connection stable.

CHECK-OUT EXPERIENCE *** Once again, welcomed with a smile and assisted without any unnecessary delays. I was glad that I could leave my entire luggage for the day and be able to hit the beach without any worries. I came back for this the same afternoon.

STAFF *** Absolutely fantastic. Even at mid-night check-in I was welcomed with a genuine hospitality and care. Professional, polite and natural staff – it’s not easy in a busy environment.

OVERVIEW *** This was my second visit in this hotel and I’ve seen big improvement with the renovated rooms and staff attitude. I would be happy to come back there next time, not only as a last-minute emergency reservation like this time. It also offers fantastic value for money and if you have a car, it’s just perfect.

Nice cost benefit. I stayed in the hotel for working purpose. The location was very convenient, close by my meetings. The room is clean, comfortable and quiet. The bad thing: no plugs near the bed so I had to charge my phone in another room. Breakfast was simple but good.

I have checked-in around 23h to 00h on Thursday, December 18th.

When I entered the room assigned to me (#513), I have noticed the safety door lock (hook) was broken.

Even though, I decided to move on and prepare myself to take a shower. With a mix of surprise and astonishment, I noticed there was no, not a single one, soap bar.

I decided to call the reception desk, and after a reasonable time with no one answering the phone up, I gave up.

Since I'm a frequent traveler, I always bring with my stuff, extra hygiene products. It was my salvation.

That whole situation was unacceptable, considering the hotel name and the basics for this segment service.

For my first time in Brazil, the Mercure in Florianopolis was a great place to call home for 10 days. The hotel is clean. The staff was very accommodating for an American who spoke very broken Portuguese. I want to especially call out the very helpful front desk receptionist Nicolas Brilhante. Nicolas went out of his way to make sure my stay was comfortable, giving me multiple suggestions on dining and exploring Floripa (and worked with me in English while bantering in Portuguese). The Mercure owners should be made aware of what a gem they have on Nicolas.

Obrigado por fazer meu tempo no brasil tão memorável.

I am a frequent customer for accor hotels including Ibis,Mercure and Sofitel. This is by far the worst Accor Hotel i have been.We booked a superior room and although we paid more to have a nice room this hotel is not worth to pay more than BRL 100.The Ibis hotel in the Centre of Florianopolis is a far better option!Don't wast your money!

Great place to crash for a few days in a business trip to Florianópolis. This hotel is relatively new and holds an strategic location if you are not into the surfing mood. You can basically turn right, drive for a couple miles and land yourself in Lagoa da Conceição where you can either pick a seat at a good restaurant and have fresh seafood and wine facing the lake on the background or pick a hot spot in one many bars for a cold beer and live music surrounded of pretty faces. Then if you decide to turn left, you can go downtown where all types of business are boiling up...

Price is decent, room is just the right size with comfortable beds and silent atmosphere.
full breakfast buffet included.... I would easily recommend this hotel to anyone who is not looking for a 5 star hotel with pricey accommodation.

This hotel is located in middle way between Lagoa da Conceição and Downtown. Very convenient if you're exploring all the island. I only suggest to avoid this hotel in summer season because of the traffic.
The room was nice and clean, service a little confused. Check in was terrible.
But still a very good option in Floripa.

This was my first stay at a Mercure hotel and I found it to be on par with Accor's Ibis hotels. We were charged for parking, breakfast, and other amenities that are free at many other Brazilian hotels. The hotel is not close to anything, except for a gas station with horrible sewage problems (you can smell it as soon as the hotel doors open). The hotel also contacted us to pre-pay our reservation in full a few weeks after making the reservation, and then lost the receipts. If we didn't have our computer with us and record of the transaction, we might have been out of luck. A few positives: the rooms were clean and some of the staff were particularly helpful. The rooms also had a nice fridge that we used to keep food and drinks.

The hotel is ideal because it is between the logoa and the city (centro). So you can take a bus either way. There is not much to do near the hotel but if you want to go to the logao, it is 3 miles away and if you want to go the city, it is 2 miles away by car. The service was above par and there is a local laundrymat if you need to clean your own clothes. Other than that you can take the bus 2.3 reis either to the beach or city. The logoa has about 20 different beaches to choose from. Also there are great bars in the Lagoa, ie John Bull that is not so far away. So you have the best of both world at a reasonable cost.
