This hotel has a lovely entrance hall - modernist, elegant light fittings and furniture, a grand piano. The luxury stops there. The rooms are small and the single beds are very narrow. The windows don't fit properly in the frames, so it's all very noisy. There was banging in the hotel itself and you can hear noise from other rooms...

you could see when the elevator stopped there that the 12th floor was entirely gutted and under construction. Perhaps this means the whole hotel was being gradually updated which would be a good thing, the noise during the day was bad. Our room was small, barely could walk around the double bed, and only one plastic chair, I didn't like theplastic...

Good facade. But that s all. Old room, beds, linen and towels. Could nt feel no clean or cozy. Noisy , dark, old corridors. Left the hotel to find another. It has a pratically abandomned pool ! Try it if you dare.

Staying in Consolacao

Neighbourhood Profile
Consolacao
Consolação lies between the old historical centre of the city and busy Paulista Avenue. It’s surrounded by the fancy Higienópolis neighbourhood, which makes it a very diverse place. The nightlife along Augusta Street offers visitors a variety of options to dine, dance and be entertained. Roosevelt Square, Consolação's main meeting point, is surrounded by fringe theaters and has become a popular skateboarding area. Right across the street from the square is the elevated highway known as “Minhocão.” Though it is busy with car traffic all week, it shuts down every weekend and becomes a leisure spot right in the middle of the city.

“Treat it as if you are in self-catering accommodation as there is very little in the way of conveniences nearby. The pool is on the 18th (smoking) floor.”

“As the windows are not sound-proofed, and the street can be noisy, I went for a high room.”

“The street noise can penetrate the rooms, so if you care about silence, keep the window shut or rent a room on one of the higher levels.”
