Vila Buarque
Locals may not know Vila Buarque by name, but they are surely aware of the neighbourhood's landmarks and uniqueness. Rua Maria Antonia is a classic college area, where students hang out in the many pubs. Nearby you will find two important cultural centres: SENAC and SESC Consolação. They offer a variety of affordable classes, plays, concerts and recreation activities. Vila Buarque is home to the Santa Casa Hospital, an important institution in the city with an amazing architecture. A few blocks away from the hospital, visitors can find karaoke bars and Santa Cecilia Church.

Breakfast is average. Juices are very watery. Pineapple not ripe. Our room had a minuscule window opening on a tiny closed area giving no light at all. Beds were hard but you can sleep ok. Nightstands are attached to the bed and with three in a row, we had difficulty using the

Friendly and welcoming staff. We were able to get our room a few hours before the check in, as a courtesy from them. The room was not big, big enough space for luggage, great bed, good shower and it had amazing blackout courtains. Breakfast was amazing, many options of breads,

Not expensive, clean, good breakfast. Close to airport bus, subway. The area is not good but no dangerous. There is air conditioner in the room. Good price for what it offers. Staff is very helpful. I have elected it as my favorite hotel in São Paulo.

I went straight to the hotel from the airport, via train. So it is quite close to the train/metro/subway network for convenience (a few or more blocks away). The hotel staff were friendly, but make sure you have your Portuguese well practiced :) The room itself was ok, but the

Yes, the room has a safe. Sao Paulo is a very diverse city, with incredible contrasts. If you want 100% safety, stay at home, in your slippers. Even there , nothing is safe. Indeed, if you visit the historical center, you will see many addicts, very poor people in the streets, because Crackland is part of the old city center, but you will also see medium class people, which represent the majority of the population. A lot of representatives of the middle class, truly nice people. Do not be glamorous with your outfit and jewels and you will walk without any problem in the centre; the streets are full of police, they will help you and guide you if you feel lost. Sao Paulo is a vibrant living city, it has a diversity of reasons to be proud of: history, architecture, art, music, big finances. And Calstar is a safe hotel, the staff is very careful with the hotel's guests.
