We visited as a family of 6 adults having booked our three bed, two bathroom apartment via AirBnB. The complex is around 5km from the centre of Borovets set in stunning countryside with views of the mountains on a clear day. We skied for 4 out of our 5 day/ 6 night stay and the free shuttle buses were punctual and easy to book. We only had to take a taxi (30 lev/£15 for 6 people) on three occasions - twice because we left it late too late to book and once after being out for NYE. The apartment was warm and comfortable, very well equipped and very clean. We had an unexpected change of bedding and fresh towels half way through our stay too which was nice. The shop has the basics (bread, butter, wine, beer, soft drinks, salty snacks, chocolate, dried pasta, eggs and some tinned stuff etc) and we had breakfast in the complex one day, which was ok for the price. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Whilst we were there we emailed our host to let him know the toaster wasn’t working (honestly because we didn’t want him to think we were responsible) but to our surprise he arranged for the management of the complex to provide us with a replacement the next day. We paid around £100 each for 6 nights which was amazing value for money in our opinion, and would definitely stay again. In fact, we’re already planning our return to Borovets for Jan 2021!

I just spent ten days skiing in Borovets and my stay in Chamkoria Chalets was really top class. The location, a short minibus ride from Borovets town itself (only an hour from Sofia), was simply stunning - think smooth snowfields and deep forest with an awesome view of the mountains - perfect for families with children, couples looking for a romantic getaway, or groups who prefer to do their own thing. It's far away enough from the town that you feel you could be in the wilderness, though the easy access to Borovets via the resort's own transport or a cheap taxi-ride meant that we could enjoy the apres-ski (or, in some cases, the apres-apres-ski) to the fullest. Nothing nicer than waking up after a day's hard snowboarding and an evening's socialising to nothing but birdsong and a soak in the pool and jacuzzi...and then do it all over again. The staff are outstanding, the restaurant and other facilities excellent, the skiing/snowboarding in Borovets great for a mid-size resort (equally the biking in summer looks superb) with plenty of on and off piste - I can't find anything to criticize, to be honest. Bulgaria's a cheap holiday destination, wayyy more affordable than any of the Alpine resorts, with pretty much everything that they have at literally a fraction of the price. As Borovets grows in the coming years (there's enormous scope for expansion of the skiing there), it's going to be a top spot. Already looking forward to my 2013 trip. I'll be staying at Chamkoria, definitely a thumbs-up.

This group of newly built residences lies about 5km from Borovets town centre and ski resort.
The original plan was that the ski resort was going to be extended to this area, with a new ski gondola, extra pistes, and even a new village with shops and restaurants. However, this plan never materialised, as the company financing it pulled out in the end. So unfortunately you are left with a group of lovely chalets and apartments in the middle of nowhere.
The residence itself is almost faultless. The staff are full of smiles, all speak good English and are happy to help. They will arrange airport transfers for you, ski hire, and shuttle you to Borovets centre in the minibus several times a day. There is also a basic mini-mart on site, a small but cosy sauna, jacuzzi and swimming pool, a restaurant bistro (which does decent food), and a beautiful reception area with log fire.
The apartment itself was of good quality too, lovingly furnished, clean, and had facilities for self catering, with a kichenette, dining table, lounge area and real log fire. Rooms were either double or bunk, and of adequate size.
If you could take this residence and move it 5km closer to Borovets, I would have no hesitation recommending it whatsoever. However, its location and the now failed plans to connect it to the main resort means that you rely on either its shuttle bus (which stops around 7pm in the evening) or taxis (costs around 30 lev each way) to get anywhere. If you tried to walk the snow track, it would probably take an hour and a half, and that certainly wouldn't be possible at night on the unlit track.
If you are a real fan of the quiet 'retreat' then you may like this place. If you are here to ski, or are planning at least a few trips to the lively Borovets bars, restaurants and apres-ski, then I would suggest staying somewhere a bit closer.

Apartments are an average size for two people. We booked for 4, 2 adults and 2 children. The children’s bed turned out to be a sofa bed with a mattress no thicker than an inch that neither of them would sleep on. So we all had to squash into a small double bed. Not ideal for anyone. The apartments only accommodate for 2 people so only 2 plates etc so to eat in we had to share or take turns washing up in between. There is not anywhere to hang wet clothing, not even any hooks apart from 2 for towels on the bathroom door. There is no safe for any belongings to be kept secure.
The bathroom drains often smell very badly on a daily basis.
The pool is heated but feels pretty cold and is one depth all over, far too deep for my young kids to play in without clinging onto myself and my wife the entire time.
The hotel itself is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. The bus drivers to and from the hotel don’t speak any English and aren’t particularly helpful and are often flippant about timings.
Overall I think the place could do with an update with some thought into the needs of the guests.

Response from Chamkoria Chalets, General Manager at Chamkoria Chalets
Responded 29 Oct 2020
Sorry to hear that you did not think the apartment was big enough for you. You booked a 1 bedroom apartment which is one of the smallest apartments we have and is generally for 2 people but can sleep up to 4 people if you want to use a sofa-bed. You could have booked any of our bigger apartments (2 bedroom, 3 bedroom or 4 bedroom) but they are more expensive of course. The pool is heated to the recommended temperature of 29-30 degrees and is regulated by a thermostat. Kids must be supervised at all times in the pool area. Our shuttle bus drivers have a basic level of English but unfortunately it can be very difficult to find drivers in the area with a good command of the English language. These apartments are all privately owned and are decorated & furnished according to owner's tastes so each apartment varies a little. If you book with us directly and let us know if you have any specific requirements for an apartment we would be happy to help and offer you the most suitable apartment or chalet for your stay.

we found these chalets just by chance on trip advisor, we had looked at staying in a hotel in the village but are very glad we chose the chalets!!!!.
The location is stunning, set in a forest away from anywhere the only down side is the road leading up to it its very long and uneven, but thats the only downside any for our party could see!
we stayed in a 3 bed deluxe maisonette which was plenty big enough for our party of 7, the maisonette was spotless ( and I have high standards ) each bedroom was fairly large and had its own on suite with fluffy white towels provided.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, even though some were very limited with their english.
The free shuttle bus was very handy but did need to be booked the night before if you needed a certain time, we did get a taxi a couple of times which was cheap if you haggled.
The bistro was good, the food selection was a little limited but very tasty, the pudding selection however was very limited, they had only 2 that week but the pancakes were very yummy, so my daughter said.
The only issues we did have was with the lack of snow, the worst for 25 years!
As a party of skiers that normally ski Canada we were very impressed with the chalets and will certainly look to use them again.

We visited Chamkoria Chalets for a ski trip and we stayed in the three-bedroom maisonette with fireplace. It was amazing and would highly recommend it! The maisonette was beautifully decorated and felt like home. As for the complex it was great, the staff were very polite and helpful, the restaurant food was fab and we also enjoyed the pool and the jacuzzi.
The complex is situated in the middle of nowhere in the forest and the nature around it is breathtaking! exactly what you need not only for a ski break, but also for a great time away!
As for the ski resort this is only a10'-15' drive away, so you couldn't really ask for more!

A large group of us stayed in two chalets over new year and we are all already dreaming about going back. We had a fantastic stay at the chalets. The resort was perfect for what we needed; bistro for when we couldn't be bothered to cook, spa, massages, supermarket for essentials and a free shuttle service to the bottom of the slopes. The chalets are in the middle of nowhere with stunning views of the snowy fields and ski slopes yet just 15 minutes from the slopes. Prices in the bistro and supermarket match those in town; all of which is mega cheap. We had some excellent days skiing, nights out in town and some nights in the chalet with our own log fire. Staying in the chalets made the whole holiday completely different to that in a hotel. For our group of friends it was perfect; sitting around chilling, drinking, watching DVDs and chatting.
Can't recommend this place enough! We can't wait to go back!

We stayed here in the lovely 8 person Chalet Sinchets last year for our skiing holiday. The Chalet was really comfortable and homely and the views of the ski slopes on the mountain were spectacular. We particularly liked the open fireplace in the chalet, the SPA facilities and the nice bistro.
A short drive from the slopes you get the quiet mountain experience mixed with some great skiing. The staff in the complex were fantastic and could not do enough for you.
We chose Chalet Sinchets as there are a few to choose from. It had great mountain views with good quality furniture and linens.

I liked the space of the chalets. Every thing was clean. Heated well.
Fantastic views of the mountain and ski slops.
This complex offers a mini bus service every 20mims. It's bookable service ran smooth 90% of the time. The journey takes 15/20 mins depending on the weather and road conditions. Breakfast was good in the hotel. The swimming pool was clean and well managed.
I would stay here again.
