Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very kind owner. Rooms basic but clean and everything worked. We have been satisfied. Calm nice hostal, close to center but very calm. Breakfast was prepared soon. Normal. cloe is good and cheap restaurant and 7/11 shop across the street. Would go again.

Slightly out of town but worth it for the money you save and service you get. Spacious double rooms, clean, hot showers, great kitchen and lovely staff. Prices negotiable for longer stays. Highly recommended

So I booked this hotel a few days in advance whilst I was on my 3 day trip in the salt lakes of Bolivia. Jose was very quick to respond and very friendly. Upon arrival he was on time and collected me from the immigration place. His hostal is literally a 2 minute walk from there so do not get back on the bus as you will only have to walk further to get to the hostal. Do write down the address as I did walk around a bit a couple of times getting back there.

Upon arrival I met Jose's wife who was really lovely. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and it even had a fridge which I didnt expect. The bathroom was also clean but the water pressure was very very poor. It was in fact the poorest I had experienced in a long time and having just returned from the desert I was desperate to have a nice shower and wash my hair. From what I understand the whole area suffers from this and prices everywhere in San Pedro de Atecama are high everywhere. I also realised that having seen most of the highlights in the salt lakes and given the buses to Salta, Argentina would only leave on certain days, to spend only one night there. Jose who had been really nice I think was quite upset when I expressed my disappointment with the shower pressure. Apart from this my stay was fine. I paid about 40USD (20 chilean pesos) for one person for one night, no breakfast included. I'm not sure how this compared to other places but San Pedro is expensive so you might want to hunt around when going around restaurants etc. I paid 5,000 for my valle de la luna tour so I'm sure you can find one about that. Many other places wanted to charge more. Wifi didnt quite reach my room either so make sure you pick a room which is central and reaches the wifi signal.

Overall this hostal is fine if you are not bothered about a good shower - if so you might want to find somewhere else.

Location is not too far of a walk from the main streets. Very quiet but safe area. The owner didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Spanish so there was a bit of a communication problem. However, she was very nice - served us breakfast and cleaned our rooms. Rooms were very clean and had good hot showers. We booked for airport transfer transport and our booking time got changed. The owner received a call from the transport transfer company and knocked on our room to give us the information (although it took us a while to understand the message).

Set around a sunny courtyard with many tables and chairs for chilling out. The bathrooms are functional and provide solar heated water 24 hours a day. The kitchen facilities are excellent, well stocked with equipment and fully working. The owner (older gentleman) was really helpful, he allowed us to store our bags after checkout and even return for a shower before a long night bus to Santiago.
Overpriced and poor value just like everything else in San Pedro. The included breakfast is a joke, a single bread roll with cheese and jam and a cup of coffee. You're lucky if you actually get served anything! Most of the time the staff are more preoccupied with their own conversation than serving you and clearing the table from the previous guest. My advice, buy some extra bread from the shop next door and use their cheese and jam. Location is on the edge of town, but close to the bus terminal.

Room was ok, very basic but stayed cool which was important. The bathroom was a short walk away, sadly someone had blocked it up which wasn't pleasant! Breakfast very basic but ok, the location was decent as it was a little walk away from the busy town area. Probably better for an older traveller who wants a little peace and quiet.

We had booked Tuyasto for 4 nights and ended up staying for an extra night at short notice after our bus to salta was cancelled because of snow (!!). The owners were so friendly and it was no problem to let us stay another night. Breakfast was quite plentiful- bread, ham, cheese, yoghurt, juice, coffee/tea. The hostel is built in a courtyard of 10 rooms around 4 shared bathrooms. Clean, hot water, comfortable beds. Good location- 5 mins from bus station, border office and 5-10 mins from town. Safe area. Very happy with our stay here.

Close to the bus station and just 10 minutes walking to Caracoles has a nice location. It is basic but very clean, it offers a kitchen to use, rooms with shared or private bathrooms and a place to wash your clothes, (do not use a lot of water, you are in the desert). Nice yard with chairs and tables in front of each room, you can socialize easily with your neighbors. A real value at San Pedro.

Tuyasto was the best hostel we stayed at in a long time. We ended up staying four nights. Total bargain (25.000 for a double with shared bathroom and breakfast included) and if you´re lucky, it´s almost booked out and the incredibly nice and laid-back owners will give you a 5-ppl-dorm all to yourself. It might not be the most beautiful hostel you´ve ever stayed at, but the rooms are spotless and spacious, kitchen use is included, and there´s even a sink with detergent for your dirty laundry. Just watch your use of water, because you´re in the desert, after all.. It´s an easy not-dangerous-at-all 5 minute walk from downtown but there´s a store right next door and there are 3 fully-equipped bathrooms. Go for the center one, though, the other two are very difficult to handle (way too hot or way too cold). Or just stay dusty :)

This is great for a clean, quiet and convenient hostal about 10 minutes from the centre. The staff are willing and happy, I suspect a man and wife growing their own business. Warm shower ok, kitchen and room all up to a fair standard, look it's not the Ritz but what do you expect for 50k Chilean pesetas for two nights stay. Well done to them
